FSX Backup Weirdness

I'm not sure this belongs in this forum but it was an action performed before re-installing FSX so I put it here. If it's not the correct forum I apologize.I was backing up all of my AI aircraft folders from the installed disk to a backup disk. I was performing a straight copy operation - select all, copy, paste into new folder. I have more than 7,000 texture folders and in both the source and destination folders, every texture.cfg file disappeared. Not one folder has a cfg pointer file for the lightmap file in the main FSX texture folder - NOT ONE. That's more than 14,000 texture folders. Is this a Windows7 issue? If it is, it is a VERY BIG FUBAR!!!!!FrankPS - Does someone know of a utility that will accomplish a mass copy-paste action so that I can put all my texture.cfg files back into their respective texture folders? Thanks
HOLY COW!!!!! Man was I wrong. Even after I completed that huge project to recover all my AI aircraft, FSX still didn't work. I got to thinking (I know, that's dangerous) - what if my "Airplane" folder was screwed up too. UGH!!!! It was. So now I'm going through all 238 "flying" aircraft folders to recover them. Missing are sound folders, sound.cfg files, texture.cfg files, and aircraft.cfg files. It's no wonder FSX wouldn't work. I'm hoping that once all this recovery has taken place, FSX will once again operate properly. When things go south, they really go.fb

Well I'm sure glad you've got somewhere with it, Frank. I couldn't help any further, and judging by the hundreds of other responses (sic) I didn't think anyone else would be figuring out how to do it either. Creating a batch file to "put back" all of those missing cfg files when we don't have the files - plus many are identical (but how would you know that?)..So... - if you're not re-installing the flying aircraft - how are you actually doing it? :(
