i have searched the forum for guidance but as this message is now being posted shows the extent of my success!i have tried to install liveries from the pmdg web site, using both normal and administrator rights but no success. I have win 7 64 bit system and am really baffled what the issue is. any advice really welcomed.Cheers

Are the individual folders for the liveries showing up in your FSX/simobjects folder somewhere?

yes they are all showing in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG_JS4100 folders. when opening fsx in the aircraft selection, show all is ticked, but only the base pmdg house aircraft are shown. I have tried running fsx as administrator and also extracting the liveries using the administrator and just me as user, but still the same result.could there be something wrong with the installer that comes with the liveries?

Verify that the liveries are reflected in the aircraft.cfg [fltsim.X], there should be the base [fltsim.o] then the others that you have installed should follow in succession.

As Robert said, if the aircraft.cfg file is not showing the additional liveries, you can edit the file to add them manually. Since the folders are showing up, this is the most likely cause.
