May 16, 201115 yr Hi Guys,I find your posts/threads fantastic for getting the most out of FSX.I also have an Asus P8P67 Deluxe coupled with an i7-2600K and 8GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM 8-8-8-24-2T.I have easily o/c to 4.8Ghz using the guides mentioned on here by either setting by using the offset method for CPU voltage (ie +0.07 etc). I was wondering whether either of you could guide me on what setting you would use in the ASUS bios to attempt a 5.0Ghz overclock as I just can't seem to find a guide that I am comfortable with to use. Also could you let me know approx what temperatures you may expect to see using Prime 25.11 (I think) just so I know if I am on the right track.I have a good CM HAF942 case with a Thermalright Archon CPU cooler so I should be ok on this score subject to getting the voltage about right. Thanks & Kind Regards Dave
May 17, 201115 yr Hi Dave,Try this for starters video.and this more videoquick notes:-Try '1T' with your memory timings.-never a bad idea to clear CMOS before trying 'others' settings-I use offset +.005 <---- don't stray too far from zero (always confirm volt usage in bios after reboot ....might have to reboot twice into bios to get accurate reading -should read 3.4Ghz with volt usage near 1.20.Have fun man-ken ROG Maximus X Apex Z370 -- 8086 @ 5.3 / NB 5.0 -- GSkill @ 4133 c17-17-32~Cr1 1.42v -- EVGA 1080Ti 6393 -- ROG PG279Q 1440P 150hz -- Corsair H100i V2 --Samsung EVO 850(s) -- Windows7 Pro 64 --Corsair 750X Ken C
May 17, 201115 yr Author Brilliant thanks Ken!I will give that a go tonite when I get home from work.Have a good dayKind Regards Dave

I will run a Prime test and report back. Thanks Daveps. thanks for your input too Stephen
May 18, 201115 yr The people shoving me around in background ('noise') were my wife and 13 year old daughter. During the video shoot, I though it be important to domesticate. June 4, 201115 yr Author Hi Dave,If those settings don't do it for you let me know and I will share wit you the latest settings I am using.Kind regards,Hi Stephen,I finally got a chance to try out Ken's settings but it issued me with a 'Blue Screen' as a reward for my efforts.Could I trouble you to jot down your 'key' settings such as voltage etc? Thanks & Kind Regards Daveps .... Ken, one thing I didn't try was altering my Corsair Vengence (2 x 4GB - 1600) RAM from 2T to 1T .... the reason I didn't is my RAM clearly states 8-8-8-24 2T ..... should I give this a go or not mate?
June 4, 201115 yr Forgive me for interrupting but Ken has a 2500K and you have a 2600K. Not sure if you turned HT off but you wont be able to use his settings with it on I feel. Regards Howard H D Isaacs
June 4, 201115 yr mornin-Try the 1T setting. It's one of those things that either works or doesn't. If your system doesn't boot with 1t then just reset it back to 2t. The settings Corsair give are guaranteed settings.But! Don't use the 1t option until you settle in on a stable over clock.Good luck man- ROG Maximus X Apex Z370 -- 8086 @ 5.3 / NB 5.0 -- GSkill @ 4133 c17-17-32~Cr1 1.42v -- EVGA 1080Ti 6393 -- ROG PG279Q 1440P 150hz -- Corsair H100i V2 --Samsung EVO 850(s) -- Windows7 Pro 64 --Corsair 750X Ken C
June 7, 201115 yr Author That was a brilliant suggestion regarding turning off Hyper Threading Howard, for some reason when I went to my standard test airport (ORBX YBBN) I historically got 22-23FPS, when I turned off HT, it jumped to 27-28FPS (based on a 4.6Ghz o/c). Whats more the temps came down approx 4-5 degrees C.Ken, I was able to get a 1 hour prime 25.11 stable o/c @4.8Ghz using 8-8-8-24-1T, but an immediate fail @5.0Ghz using 1T Ram timings.Do you think its worth trying the 5.0Ghz again using the 2T Ram timing? ... sorry I don't really understand the benefits of 1T vs 2T Ram timings. ie is 1T far better than a higher o/c?Once again guys ..... thanks for all your help to date.Kind Regards Dave

Using 1T over the 2T setting will decrease ram latency. I haven't measured the difference with the Sandy bridge but, the difference was significant on my previous puter (775 socket), ie a CL3 2t was no faster than a CL4 1T. Anyway, measure the difference yourself (5.0GHz 2t vs 4.8GHz 1t) and, as always go with the fastest. :-) ROG Maximus X Apex Z370 -- 8086 @ 5.3 / NB 5.0 -- GSkill @ 4133 c17-17-32~Cr1 1.42v -- EVGA 1080Ti 6393 -- ROG PG279Q 1440P 150hz -- Corsair H100i V2 --Samsung EVO 850(s) -- Windows7 Pro 64 --Corsair 750X Ken C

Be careful not to overvolt it. Not sure what the max is off hand but mine is 1.16875V. Usual disclaimers apply. Regards Howard H D Isaacs
