SimConnect

Featured Replies

Dear all,I have a few questions regarding the SimConnect API. Is it possible to request the local time of a certain location (airport)? Is it possible to request the wind force and wind direction from a certain airport (icao)? Is it possible to force a reload of the sim's scenery? Is so, how?I hope someone could take the time to answer these questions?

Get the SimConnect API and read, but IIRC yes, all that is possible with maybe the exception of forcing a scenery refresh.Best regards,Robin.

Henk -you might wanna give this a read. Big%20Grin.gif (sorry for the link and don't take it too serious, I just like that service so much :()Local time - don't know. Local WX - do know, tried it and works.Other than that and in addition to Robin, I'm pretty sure it should be possible to force a scenery refresh. There's even an event ID for it, so you could assign a key stroke if you want. Makes me think it should be possible in SimConnect more than ever. :(sig.gif

Thanks for the information! I'm not trying to develop something, I just needed some info for an idea I had which included SimConnect. I need the following:- local time (at ICAO) - dunno- local WX (at ICAO)- location of user aircraft (coordinates)- create green info inside FSX - should be possible but can't find info atm. It's at least possible to create on screen menus or also alter the default menu- force a scenery reload (btw, it's KEY_REFRESH_SCENERY...)
Care to elaborate boutcha thoughts? :(sig.gif

Thanks for the links, Etienne. Although I don't understand the code on those pages, it certainly helped! When a request is send for WX date from a certain station, does it return in the form of a METAR? If so, that would include the local time....

When a request is send for WX date from a certain station, does it return in the form of a METAR?
Yes, it's pure text. Interestingly enough, it's just as easy to set the WX at a particular station - you just have to pass a valid METAR string to it. Works pretty quick too.
If so, that would include the local time....
No it doesn't. It's merely the time of observation, plus it's UTC anyways. So either way, the METAR might not be of great use regarding your issue. I'm not quite sure as to how you could find out the local time at a certain station off the top of my head... :(sig.gif
