asv6.5 multiple .ini for fsx and fs9

Featured Replies

Hi,How can I keep two separate asv6.ini file for fsx and fs9? I had something working long ago but couldn't find anything here about how to set the asv6.5 shortcut properties' target="c:\...." to make the fsx version read the fsx's .ini file."C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\ASv6\ASv6.exe" is the shortcut target now, if I change it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\ASv6\ASv6.exe asv6.ini then it says thte target is not valid, make path and file are correct. Also, when starting up the program, get this message saying something about updating the wxstationlist.bin, how do I get rid of this? Thanks,Pat

Hi,You can still do things as before, but in your case the situation is with the fact that you have everything installed in the Program Files folder.Instead of reinstalling FS and all your add-ons, make a second .ini file and copy and paste the proper file before starting AS. A little work, but a lot less than having to do all those re-installs.The error message is because your Application Data folder is not Read and Write enabled for that account.

That's too much effort. Easier to write a batch file to do the copying and use two icons to run repective .bat files.cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\ASv6copy asv6_fsx.ini asv6.inistart Asv6.exe exit

  • 2 months later...

I need multiple ini files and cannot find my error in setting it up ..Darn!.Permissions are ok for folder, I can read and write the ini file changes myself. But I cannot get the properties box changes working. I have my ini file here on client PC WinVista-32 bit: C:\FS9\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\ASv6 I have ASv6.ini which works with normal ASv6 desktop icon. I have DefaultOptions.ini but it errors when I change my Target properties to:"C:\FS9\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\ASv6\ASv6.exe defaultoptions.ini" By accident I found the problem.... have to add the new ini name outside the " " marks in the Target box like this:"C:\FS9\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\ASv6\ASv6.exe" defaultoptions.ini now it Works!
