Tutorial 1 fuel quantity setting

Featured Replies

Just bought this great aircraft, and I'm trying to set up the flight in tutorial 1. I've got the plane at Heathrow (EGLL ) at gate 212 and I've loaded the panel state, all as the tutorial instructs.I then bring up the load manager, and follow all the instructions as regards MD-11 Mixed Class, 2/3 PAX, and clicking on the white boxes in the forward cargo hold to turn them green. The tutorial says ' Don't worry about fuel as this is set already via the panel state we loaded before '. It makes no mention of altering the fuel quantity slider ( arrowed in the picture below ) which by default has a value of 77.000 as shownImage002-1.jpgOnce all this is done and the info sent to FSX, I find that when following the MCDU instructions, and arriving at the WEIGHT INIT page, the UFOB number is 77.0 and not 30.0 as shown in the manual's screen capture on page 7 of the tutorial manual PDF.This indicates to me that I should have moved that fuel slider in the Load Manager down to 30.000 before clicking 'Send to FSX' I find it strange that we are specifically told not to worry about the fuel, but in fact we do have to alter it down to 30...or am I missing something ?Clarification and/or guidance would be much appreciated.RegardsPaul Kirkland

I don't know why the load manager is setting the fuel at 77,000, but you are correct, it should be at 30,000 instead.

Paul, did you load the tutorial 1 panel state prior to opening the load manager? If you do then the load manager fuel setting should be at 30t already, hence the note to disregard fuel settings.Cheers,Markus

Yes I did, Markus. I followed the tutorial sequence exactly, several times in fact. Loaded the panel state and then opened the load manager. Each time, it was at 77.000. I have since reduced it to 30.000 myself, and all seems okay, but I'd like it clarified if possible. :(

I remember the same thing. Perhaps we made the same error, but I had to modify the fuel to 30.0 on the load manager as well.
