Burning Blue Design Enhanced Global Vegetation
I like Burning Blue, I like what I see and I like the price.

Favorite airfield for FPS testing?
I also used KEDW for testing and learning aircraft, as it's ideal for anything from GA to large airliners. However, the mod from nickb007 and JKustom introduces a terrain level change that crosses the runways, so it is back to the boring vanilla airport for now. I don't know what Redwing's Edwards is like - I see I can try it out for 24 hours so I might give it a stab. There is a MSFS2020 Boscombe Down which works well in MSFS2024 - it has terrain level changes, but the enormous runway is unaffected by them. https://flightsim.to/addon/60444/egdm-mod-boscombe-down

C-46 Commando Update - Any Good ?
With A&AU 05 has come an update from Inibuilds and Working Title for the Microsoft C-46, originally developed by Aeroplane Heaven. It's a favourite aircraft in the real world, but the AH model was very disappointing in P3D, so I've also avoided it in MSFS. Now, with the upgrade released ( listed below ), I'm wondering whether to buy it. I'd appreciate some objective warts-and-all views on the model as it stands today. Tell me the bad as well as the good, please. Curtiss C-46 CommandoUpgraded to the modern MSFS 2024 aircraft framework. Converted to the latest modular package format. Revised the flight model to better represent the C-46’s size and mass. Improved stability, control response, and ground handling. Refined engine response and aircraft performance. Expanded the electrical-system simulation. Implemented more representative left and right electrical buses. Improved battery, avionics, and engine-bus behavior. Updated alternator, inverter, and external-power functionality. Reworked the fuel-system architecture. Improved tank selection, engine fuel routing and crossfeed behavior. Improved cockpit controls, switches, and instrumentation. Updated cockpit and exterior lighting. Refreshed interior and exterior artwork and materials. Improved animations and interactive elements. Updated engine and propeller sounds. Improved interior and exterior sound balancing. Refined engine audio transitions across different power settings. Improved cockpit controls, switches, and environmental sounds. Added compatibility with suitable cargo and transport Career Mode activities.

MSFS 2024: Increasing Throttle after mid-point reduces power
Do you know how to assign controls at all in MSFS, i.e. on the 'Setttings' screen ?
-
MSFS 2024: Increasing Throttle after mid-point reduces power
Sounds like you've got the throttle assigned to a -100% to +100% type of axis in settings. Look for 0% to 100%.

Sim Update 6 (v1.8.14.0) now available
Agreed! Pound for pound, I think it's the best default aircraft we've seen in any Microsoft flight sim. As you say, the Albatross is already sold, so all this ongoing development is clearly a labour of love for Mike Johnson. For those who haven't had a look yet, here's a list of the latest fixes, tweaks and enhancements - and this is on top of five previous free updates: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/grumman-albatross-hu-16-g111-thread/667391/1617

Sim Update as a happy surprise ...
I was picturing the scene where the latest SU had once again fouled up something with PMDG's DC-6. Patton, played by Robert Randazzo, storms into the hospital tent where Jorg Neumann is in bed with shell shock. 😉

Sim Update as a happy surprise ...
I can think of several lines and scenes from that movie that would indicate the opposite! 😂

£9.39 ? Ker-ching! That Air India livery is going to send me back to my childhood.

Heads up! PMDG sale on right now
I eventually settled for the 300ER, and had a quick look round it last night. Gorgeous! I now have the DC-6, the 737-700 and this 777-300ER. People can say what they like about PMDG, but they produce a damned fine aeroplane.

Heads up! PMDG sale on right now
Thanks for that, mate. I'm torn between the F and the 300ER at the moment.

Heads up! PMDG sale on right now
Does the freighter have the same range as the LR, though ? I'm tempted by this sale, suffering as I do from FOMO and a need for all the shiny toys.

AzurPoly Rafale: not just a pretty face
Yes, I'm looking at screenshots elsewhere, like Sim Outhouse. I must say, AzurPoly has done a fabulous job with the model and textures. Maybe my resistance will crumble.

AzurPoly Rafale: not just a pretty face
Hmmm...still not sure if it's my cup of tea, but I'll bear your thoughts in mind. It does look beautiful though!

I don't mind, as long as we don't start saying 'I could care less'. 😡

Glad you enjoyed your visit here, Stan.

AzurPoly Rafale: not just a pretty face
I like AzurPoly - they take their business very seriously, and their product support is excellent. I won't be buying the Rafale, however, as my old brain and reaction times struggle with fast jets. The JF Hawk and Dave Garwood's Hunters are just about on the edge of my personal envelope. I'll stick with their slower stuff, like the Tracker that's under development - that's a definite purchase for me.

Doing the Missionary Bush Pilot thing
Another link to everything PNG at FS.To. ( including a version of Goroka ) https://flightsim.to/airports/country/PG Along with Alaska and Canada, PNG is a very popular bush-flying location. I love it, along with Australia, NZ, S.E. Asia, and the Pacific. Definitely my favourite region of the world.

Have a look at Mountainair's freeware scenery. He's done a number of airstrips for PNG. https://flightsim.to/profile/Mountainair

Kudos to MS-Asobo for the US National Parks
I agree. I've barely scratched the surface, but from what I've seen so far, the National Parks update is astonishing.
