May 23, 201115 yr I posted this in the PMDG MD-11 forum several days ago. No relies as of now. Does anyone known of a solution?Posted 21 May 2011 - 11:59 AMIs anyone aware of a program that will convert flightplans with a rte extension to flightplans with a pln extension. I need to covert MD-11 flightplans which are in the folder to flightplans which will be recognized by Active Sky Evolution. I am using vroute premium for plans. If vroute premuim has a plan I can download it as a pln to Flight Simulator X Files and then as a rte to PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS. Active Sky will then recoginize the pln in Flight Simulator X Files. I have copied and pasted rte files from PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS to Flight Simulator X Files but when I try import the rte into Active Sky from Flight Simulator X Files rte is not in the list of available flightplans. If I have to enter a plan manually into the MD-11 and save it, the extension is rte and I know of no way to get it into ASE.Thank youMichael Cubine Michael Cubine

I use FSBuild2, to generate my flightplans. I can then export that flightplan into .pln and .rte files, which aqre used by ASE, Radar Contact and my LDS 767 for .rte. I really don't know of programs that read .rte plans first and then convert them back into .pln format. Developing a flightplan inside of the FMC is a very long procedure that can have lots of errors. Also when I fly in the US and international routes that orginate in the US, I use a program call FlightAware http://flightaware.com/ I take real world routing copy it into FSBuild and generate a flightplan that then in exported in all the formats that you want.Hope this helpsBob JohnsonDTW
May 24, 201115 yr Author Bob JohsonI use vroute.premium. I don't believe this application generates flightplans. Flighplans are submitted by users, checked against the current AIRAC cycle, verified by the site and then listed as a flightplan which can then be exported to various locations within FSX using different extensions. Most of these plans come Flightaware. The current issue involves KLAX to EDDM. There was no plan listed in vroute. So I went to Flightaware and copied and pasted a current Luthsana plan for KLAX-EDDM. This plan was promtly rejected by vroute with about 25 errors in the plan. I then entered the plan into the PMDG MD-11 FMC and saved it. The plan worked fine on a recent flight. But the plan is in the rte format. So to import it into ASE I need it in the pln format. If there is not a plan listed by vroute between two airports I am screwed.I have found nothing on Google that would help in FSX. I found one application but that was for FS2004.Do you thihk FSBuild2 would generate a plan between KLAX-EDDM using NAT that can be exported in both pln to Microsoft Flight Simulator X Files and rte to PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS?Thank youMichael Cubine Michael Cubine
May 24, 201115 yr Michael,That was my point in my reply to you above. If you get a route from FlightAware, like I do on almost all of my flights. I copy the route from there to FSBuild. FSBuild will generate a flightplan. From inside of FSBuild you "export" the flightplan to FSX .pln and a PMDG .rte. You now have a flightplan that can be read by ASE and your PMDG plane.I am about to do it right now on a flight from MMUN to KDTW, works like a champ.Bob

This will then bypass much of the validation procedure (removing the error messages) and you will then be able to export the flightplan as usual in the formats you require.Hope this helps,Jack
