3D lights Service Pack for older A/C

Featured Replies

Obviously it's NGX time now, and then the JS41 SP2 or whatever, but I'd like to know if there is a chance of having an expansion for older PMDG models to add 3D lights like the ones in the NGX. IIRC it's coded in the model itself, so I don't know if it's feasible, having to mess with old code like the 744's, or if the MD11 and JS41 have reached the VC animations limit (I think that's the case with the Jetstream and that's what triggers the artifacting at max settings?)Anyway, I'd be more than happy to pay for that and thought it wouldn't hurt to ask, what planes could be patched if any, and who else would be interestedThanks

We're not just using the model for this, there's gauges involved too. Unfortunately the answer is no. Future products for sure. The NGX really represents a clean break for us from the older products - this is a totally different way of building the airplane, both model and gauge wise and it's what will power the future products like the 777.

Fair enough. Thanks Ryan

If you're talking about external lights also, a company already models this.Check out Shockwave 3D Lights by AVA simulations.

I bought them for FS9 long ago, but it's not the same. They don't glow the ground and the scenery.

Hi Ryan,Are you talking about gauge parts (both moving and stationary) built within the plane (giving that 3D look) with texture overlays for color / "Paint", and the the behavior of the gauge working on XML talking with .dll files? This does not include the FMC or the MCP which might be in C++.(?)Thanks,Benny Miller

I don't know the exact specifics (I'm not a programmer myself) but I know it isn't just a simple issue of updating a model. The entire aircraft is programmed in C++ with the exception of a couple XML/SPB things.

I bought the J41 months ago and still did not land with it. My FSX kept crashing all the time when I did not have the uiautomation.dll issue figured out. I also couldn't save the flights. I wonder how it looks like in the night?
