May 27, 201115 yr Hi All, I have been reading through all of the threads on the 480 Vs. 580 and the infinite detail that the top sticky goes into. Excellent thread. But the problem is it has left me none-the-wiser as to what card to get when building a new machine for FSX and all of its add-ons (REX, PMDG, et. al.).The GTX 580's are quite simply out of my reach financially (they're closer to $600 here in Australia) .The 480 for me seems too slow, and I don't want such an old card in a new PC. So what do i choose? The 2Gb Versions of the 560ti look good but are they worth it for a machine running an i7 (or maybe an i5) with 8Gb Ram?any and all suggestions welcome. Would love any Australian readers to let me know what they've purchased (in Perth) and how much from where?.I'm probably going to be getting something ex Tax from Altech or PCCG in Vic.ThanksDavid David Stewart, Dianella, Western Australia. New PC coming one day! | In the meantime I fly with; AMD X64 1.2Ghz Dual Core | 6Gb Ram | 6600GT | Old case | FSX | REX | Superbug FA-18F | Capt Sim 767 | ORBX Aust Scenery | Jandakot | PC12 & numerous others.
May 27, 201115 yr I would recommend the 560 Ti 2GB. Mid range price and a very good card. I'm running mine on an i7 860 OC to 3.9 GHz and 12 MB of ram.
May 27, 201115 yr Author Or,Just to confuse things even more! Do I choose a GTX570 instead? Can barely afford one.Does the comparison go like this? The 560ti is based on the 460?the 570 is based on the 470?and the 580 is based on the 480I just thought it all went up on an incremental sliding scale. The 460 to 470, to 480 to 490, 560 570 then the 580 etc.So, whats better than what?David David Stewart, Dianella, Western Australia. The performance chart would be: 580570 / 480560Ti470 / 560460 1GB 460 768MBOr,Just to confuse things even more! Do I choose a GTX570 instead? Downright confusing!.Ok so choosing a 560Ti with 2Gb appears to be a correct one - Its what I had in mind all along. Thank you,David David Stewart, Dianella, Western Australia.
