3d39.dll crash ENB related or not?

Recommended Posts

As I already mentioned in this post, I get crashes after 5 till 30 minutes in-flight, I originally thought they were related to my ENB-Mod, but it seems when testing it without I just have been lucky. Here is the error message from Win7, sorry its in german:

Name der fehlerhaften Anwendung: fsx.exe, Version: 10.0.61637.0, Zeitstempel: 0x46fadb14Name des fehlerhaften Moduls: d3d9.dll, Version: 1.0.0.1, Zeitstempel: 0x48751493Ausnahmecode: 0xc0000005Fehleroffset: 0x00006d1cID des fehlerhaften Prozesses: 0xbc8Startzeit der fehlerhaften Anwendung: 0x01cc1d227d76a55aPfad der fehlerhaften Anwendung: S:\FSX\fsx.exePfad des fehlerhaften Moduls: S:\FSX\d3d9.dllBerichtskennung: 9f136128-891b-11e0-84f7-0050ba493fe4

This happens faster when I only use 4 GB of Memory instead of 8 GB, which would point to an OOM-issue, I have many addons, but shouldnt 8 GB be enough? Should I really consider co for a new MoBo which supports 16 GB max??? I don't think so......I tried all possible things in my FSX.CFG without sucess, here it is, I removed some entries that are not relevant:

[bufferPools]//RejectThreshold=131072 <-------- (thats because of boyotes auto tweak, however the sim runs much smoother with PoolSize=0 then with RejectThreshold enabled, I tried other pool values My system specs are as follows: 4,0 Ghz Phenom II X4 965, 8 GB DDR2 1066 RAM CL5, nvidia GTS250 1GB driver version 266.58 (I have changed that, no sucess), Win7 64bit, FSX with Acceleration. Here is whatI did so far:-changed bufferpool values and experimented with them.-tested my ram for instability, actually found one, solved it, but still got the crash.-reworked ENB settings as seen in the thread mentioned above, actually I got these crashes before I even installed this mod.-tried 3 different nvidia drivers-uiautomationcore.dll is applied-completely reworked my overclock to assure its stable.-highmemfix is there, as you can see, as well as the fsx-exe is verified to have the largeadresshardware-option set.Tha fact that it happens in high-density areas like NYC with UTX and GEX points to an OOM issue as well, but since I do not have any performance problems on my rig, am I really required to lower my settings? How much RAM does FSX use max on a 64bit system with highmemfix set?Any Ideas?thx in advance....

The error code 0xc0000005 indicates a 'memory exception error' involving d3d9.dll. I've seen this happening when there is a lot of strain on system resources while using FSX and usually occurs when ATC is trying to speak and you have some high intensity graphic program happening at the same exact time. I don't know of any solution other than to turn down your scenery sliders and reducing AI. The highmemfix=1 tweak in the graphics section of FSX.cfg is your best bet for fixing this issue but you'll still have to reduce some sliders. That is the only tweak I have in my FSX.cfg and I have not suffered your fate and I have flown in high density areas like NYC. In fact, I have Aerosoft's Manhattan installed and FSDT's JFK airport scenery installed. I have gone into JFK in heavy weather and at night and have not received a crash. You have the 64 bit version of Windows 7 so the OOM issue should not apply. Get rid of ENB series. It doesn't work properly and I had nothing but problems with FSX when I had it installed. As I recall this mod replaces the d3d9.dll in FSX so make sure you bring back the original one from Microsoft if you uninstall the mod. The mod also has an enb.ini in the main FSX folder and you need to remove that as that is not removed in any uninstall program and the enb.ini will continue to try to operate even when you think you have shut it down. Have you ever tried renaming your FSX.cfg to fsx.old (in case you want to return to the original settings), restart FSX and let fsx.cfg rebuild to its default values. Now try flying those areas and see if you still get the exception error or crashes. That will tell you faster than anyone else whether you have a problem with your fsx.config or not. Having your fsx settings set to the max whether you have a super computer or not is not justified IMHO. You can still get exceptional graphics with some of your scenery sliders turned down just a little bit. These new graphics cards help make that happen. FSX is not like any of the other games, like 'need for speed' where people try to get the best graphics possible by pushing the graphics to the max (and the graphics are great). But in FSX, that doesn't work that way at all. AI is a memory resource killer too. Anything higher than 50% AI is not justified. Turn some of these settings down and enjoy the sim. Hopefully, in future generations of flight simulator, we'll see better memory management within the sim.Best regards,Jim

I removed ENB from my setup as well because of random D3D9.dll crashes when accessing menus in flight (not UIAutomationCore.dll related - I already corrected that :( ) and everytime on exit when using complex aircraft and detailed scenery. I haven't had a crash since. :( I didn't really investigate the cause but I suspect either a Windows update or recent Nvidia drivers because Enbseries worked flawlessly a while ago. @Jim : if I remember well there is no d3d9.dll in a clean install of FSX so ENB shouldn't overwrite anything. ENB puts its D3D9.dll there so that it has a higher priority over the ones that come with DirectX.

KInd regards

Well, it has been a while and I am still trying to get ENB runnig correctly with FSX. like I mentioned in another post, für me it causes black screens after using menus even when the effect is disabled before by pressing SHIFT and F12. I wonder if the ENB Mod together with complex aircraft is overloading the graphics card or memory somehow. I switched from a GTS250 to a HD5770 with the same results, so the only suspect left is the video memory.TO the guys who got ENB to work on their systems: what cards do u have?

I have a 6970 2GB.I disable ENB before opening any menu and that usually prevents FSX from crashing. Works 100% over default scenery and photoreal. When flying with ORBX it works 90% of the time.I just got used to doing this because I simply cannot fly without ENB.

Guys..I've been reading all your posts and searching for solution in regard to this d3d9.dll crash. Whenever I placed the enbseries, ini and d3d9.dll in the fsx folder, FSX would crashed. I've tried usereffect=0, changing setting within the .ini with no luck. Until today, I dropped by http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/icenhancer-12---enb-graphic-mod-f9236 and found out the SOLUTION (and hopefully yours too). I removed OC precision and MSI afterburner (or other GPU fan controller) from my startup and BANG, no move CTD at fsx startup, no more CTD during flight and most wonderful of all, Enb finally works! I know I'm talking about Nvidia card here, but for people with ATI/AMD cards, give this a shot!
