Add-ons not being added into scenery library automatically

Featured Replies

This may have been asked before so apologies if it has. After doing a clean install of FS9 recently in Windows 7, installing it directly under the root, ie outside of Program Files as many people have recommended, I have noticed that when I install add-on programmes they are not showing in the scenery library like they used to when I had FS9 originally installed inside Program Files.Although I know how to install the scenery into the add-on scenery library that is not the issue. The strange thing is that I recently installed FS Global 2010 and that got added into the scenery library automatically but when I install some of my older add-ons they do not show up. I don't know if it's because they are older programmes that this is happening, maybe it is.Anyway, although I don't mind installing them into the scenery library manually, although it is a bit of a nuisence, what I am not sure about is which order to install them as some of the scenery names have -LC or -LWM after them so I don't know which one takes higher priority. For example, I have installed Aerosoft's Balearic & Gibraltar CD, quite old I know but still effective. Now, if I want to manually add the scenery for Mallorca, I get the following list:Mallorca_2004Mallorca_2004_LCMallorca_2004_LWMandIbiza_2004Ibizafoto_2004So do I install these in the order as they are? Better still, does anyone know why they it is not being automatically added to the scenery library, it would save a lot of time and bother!

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Packard Bell imedia S3210. AMD Athlon II X 3 425 Processor 2.70 GHz. 3 GB RAM. External hard drive 1TB. FS9.1, Ground Environment, Ultimate Terrain Europe, REX, Zinertek's Ultimate Water Advanced & Ultimate Night Environment 2010, WOAI, MAIW, AES, ODG Project.

I do recall having a similar problem. There are more than one scenery.cfg files in a Win7 environment. In my case, there is one in the fltsim folder, and another one in the C:\Users\[...]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FS9 folder. Depending on whether I was acting as the administrator or not, older install programs were installing to one, and newer to the other, but I couldn't tell you which one.I'm sure others will jump in with better, or worse, advice. Regards,

Just a shot in the dark, I wonder if FS Global automatically rewrites scenery.cfg with the custom folder location but your other addons don't. Try reinstalling a selection of addons and look to see whether the 'Date Modified' changes in scenery.cfg's properties. Have a look inside it too to see whether the incorrect ../Program Files/* paths have been added and are just being ignored as the folders are elsewhere.Regards,D
