Wrong approach altitude

Featured Replies

On my last 3 flights, RC has vectored me to final approach with a "maintain 15000 until established on the localizer". This happend twice approaching KJFK and once approaching KLAS. I have made many flights to these airports before with the correct altitude instructins given by RC. Anyone have an idea of what is wrong here?

without a log, i have no idea. if you can duplicate the problem, make a log, instructions pinned to the top of the forum. zip up the log, and send it to me.make sure you click debug before loading the flight planjd

Load your flight plan into RC for each trip. Open the Controller page and in the column for each destination airport write down the MSA. I have 1900 for JFK and 7500 for KLAS.See if yours matches for a start and reply here. These are the estimated averaged around your destination Minimum Safe Altitudes used in calculating your ILS intersect. This is from a fixed data file not derived from your scenery.Note:For KLAS which is surrounded by high terrain it would be best to download the IFR plates (free) from:http://flightaware.com/resources/airport/KLAS/proceduresas a bundled procedure of all charts in one .pdf. Look at the STARs and how they connect to the IAFs (Initial Approach Fix). After RC assigns a runway in the approach phase you can request an IAP to the assigned (or other) runway. This will let you navigate on your own without vectors and RC will not monitor you until you are on final and then passed to tower for landing procedures and clearance.I looked at the KLAS charts and around 7500 is correct for the intercept altitude remembering that RC may have you intercept a bit further out.I also recall from them that all runways are not used for both take-off and landing, something that FS AI may not recognize depending on the scenery designer.
