June 7, 201114 yr I think i inadvertently installed a fs9 traffic and or scenery file . This has corrupted a 3rd party application I am usingHow does one tell the difference between the two. I think they are all named .bglIs there a utility to help find /distinguish them?Regards Peter
June 7, 201114 yr Moderator Yes, there is no easy way to tell them apart. Even if you decompile the traffic files, the contents will still look pretty much the same. The only way I can tell converted FS9 traffic files apart from non-converter FS9 traffic files, is that mine would say Traffic_UPS_FSX.bgl and that's only because the program I use to convert the FS9 traffic files places the "FSX" part into the file name. You'll probably have to go by the process of elimination which should be fairly easy if it just happened. Here's what I would do.1st - If you recently installed any new sceneries you can look in the "scenery" folder of the new scenery and see if you can spot the traffic file. Sometimes some developers will include some area or regional traffic for an airport they developed. 2nd - If you haven't installed any new sceneries then you could look in the FSX/Scenery/World/Scenery folder and sort the files by "date modified" or "date created" in ascending or descending order and see if you spot any new traffic file. If you do spot a new one that you dont remember installing you could either remove it (keep it somewhere outside FSX) or rename it to .off and then start FSX to see if that fixes you problem. If that doesn't work you could keep doing the same thing in a process of elimination until you find the offending traffic bgl.If I were you I would try to recount the last thing you installed that caused the problem and look to it first. If it was a scenery and you cant find a traffic bgl in it, you could always just disable the scenery temporarly in the FSX UI in the scenery section and see if that fixes it. If it does fix it then you will have to concentrate on the scenery to see if you can find the traffic file, plus you could always contact the developer if they have a forum and ask them which bgl is the traffic file, you could then remove it or rename it once you fine out the name of it.
