June 9, 201114 yr I hate to spam the forums with stupid questions, but I have to ask, will oc'ing to 4.8 make a noticeable difference? Thanks. Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
June 9, 201114 yr Performance improvements are most noticeable when you move from low performance to acceptable performance. For instance, if you currently achieve say 13 FPS in your worst-case-scenario and this is visibly low performance to you, overclocking your CPU another 300MHz may bump you up to 15 FPS or more which might be *just enough* to produce a more fluid motion and thus alleviate your performance concerns. I almost always recommend overclocking one's system as much as possible while still maintaining stability, so if you can hit 4.8GHz without causing crashes I say go for it!
June 10, 201114 yr If you look through the FSXMARK11 thread, you will notice a trend. On the SB chips with a GTX 580, you are looking at about 1 FPS per 100 MHz - 1-3 FPS.What I found:@3.8 GTX 570 [email protected] GTX 580 [email protected] GTX 480 [email protected] GTX 460SE 39fps - this one looks out of placeIf you are getting low fps, every frame counts, after 30 though, does 31 matter considering the extra heat and fan noise.
