B25 Disappointment

Featured Replies

I recently downloaded the Version 7, B25. from MAAM and I am very disappointed with this Sim. Yes, there are more goodies and features than previous versions, and I realize this is a ' Port Over' but to me it's not not worth the money The textures are blurrey and not good. The Pilots are very unreal and unnatural. Where there should be roundish edges they are rectangular.. Despite using the Manual I cannot get the Pilots window to close. On engine startup, there is no prop movement until the engine in running--- no motion on Mesh engagement, the engines go from stop to running in one movement. Once airborne the A/C is okay, but in my opinion this Sim is not up to MAAM"S usual high standard. Respectfully, I would like a refund. CJ

I'm sorry you feel that way, and I have to say I'm very surprised at your specific criticisms. Aside from the animations, the pilots are the same figures as in the previous version, as are the textures you say are "blurrey". Jan's pilot figures are among the very best in FS, in fact. You are entitled to your opinion, but I think you will find it in a very small minority, considering the awards and reviews this aircraft has garnered. Aside from that, you have a download product and we are a non-profit museum. Respectfully, we can't issue you a refund just because you don't like what you see.BTW, it's in the manual under animations: to close the pilot's window in FSX use the Ctrl + W command.

Thank you for the reply Bill; Let me say that I am a fan of MAAM products and have their products in my hanger. My critisism was on the FSX B25 only. The blurryness I refered to was of the A/C fuselage generally. I am able to use all the operable features of the A/C but the window still remains open even using Ctrl+W. I guess I am comparing this B25 with the FS9 version--perhaps not a fair comparison. As to my ' refund' reference- I understand your position and I accept that respectfully. CJ

Thanks, C.J. Have you by any chance re-assigned the Water rudder (up/down) key command? That's what is used to toggle the window opening, and why it is different in FS9 (Shift + W), as it was changed in FSX. Check out the Options/Settings/Controls/Buttons/Keys menu and see if it is still there.

Well I'll be danged !!! That was the problem, now the left ' throttle bender' won't lose his chapeau. :( Thanks Bill. Cheers, CJ

I dont know if it applies to FSX, but with FS9 I just open up imagetool and remove the mip maps on any blurry textures I find. Some have them, some dont, some need conversion to DXT3, some dont, everyone's system is different. But it's a quick fix and all is well. I really like the new B-25, it's great having the VC functionality and I think the props and engines look better. In any case, it's a great airplane and the money is going to a great cause. Anything I can do to get that P-61 in the air is not enough (as well as all the other projects too). My dad was a radio/radar operator in P-61's, and I believe he was in the squadron that the MAAM P-61 was from. He would have LOVED all of this. BTW, if anyone starts noticing a problem with Active Camera and the VC (as I have), go in the panel.cfg and put a // in front of anywhere it says "zorder". Same issue as was with the Avenger and that fix works fine, I tested it and everything works great. Thanks again for the new version!
