December 13, 200322 yr Anyone heard about the status of the Emma Field update for FS9 is? Seems like they're getting out lots of other scenery updates, but not for this very popular package?Best,Joel
December 13, 200322 yr Howdy,Nothing official has been heard yet, but suspect LAGO is waiting for the release of certain SDK's before implementing various features inherent in the programme. (Rumour is: 90+% done; now awaiting the development of a final .dll. But it's just that, a rumour.)Meanwhile, there have been substantial improvements done to the base Emma Field package (all of the scenery is back, now it's just missing the animations and sounds) by some of the fans at the Emma Field Flying Club (check out the Forum at http://forums.simflight.com/viewforum.php?f=19 )
December 15, 200322 yr FS Enhancement will be out shortly. It is in BETA testing now for various functions (I know!) and final polishing.I think we're down to a few weeks possibly, and not a few months. Illigitimi non-carbrundum
December 16, 200322 yr What is so special about this addon.I just got my December issue of Computer Pilot and it is rated as the best scenery addon, ahead of even MegaScenery. Now I understand the draw of Southern California Satellite imagry, but what is so enthralling about this addon.I'm not being negative, I just want to know what the hoopla is about, because I have not ever considered purchasing it, and I wanna know what I'm missing.(The only scenery (other than mesh) I have bought, is Gibraltar 2004, and that was excellent.)If Emma Field is all that, I might have to purchase that as well when it is FS9 compatibile. Please give me the rundown.
December 16, 200322 yr Howdy,In it's original (2K2) form, Emma was fairly ground breaking stuff; populated with some pretty quirky animated dynamic scenery dependent upon the time/season (for example: on Saturday mornings, cars would turn up at the Emma Field gate--which opened to admit them--towing gliders, move across the field, unpack them, and prepare for take off); but, more importantly, the location supported ... sound! (for example: the groundkeeper ... Fritz, to those in the know, mowed the lawns accompanied by the sound of ... a motorized lawnmower :)). Other features are thermal areas for gliding, and a very nicely blended set of textures which merged into the default landscape (i.e.: no use of grass.R8 textures :-lol ). It's a "bush" field, but with the difference of being located just a short hop from other, larger Washington State airfields/ports. Naturally, Emma Field has attained cult status, and is actively supported by a growing band of "members" of the Flying Club which was established shortly after it's release.

But the concept of a flying club where you can "casually" fly with other simmers sounds like fun. I tried the Vatsim thing -- but too complicated, too time consuming, too formal for me. On the other hand , a flying club would be more like the kind of thing I might do in real life! :)Barry
December 16, 200322 yr Author Should try Bushnet here at AVSIM, a very casual atmosphere where you fly with others onlione. flyins are held, small VAs use it, really a cool alternative to VATSIM (if you don't fly the heavies)Well said, Capt!Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com Best, Michael KDFW
