FSX and Processors...

Featured Replies

Hi,I am now about to upgrade my processor from the actual i3 ( most likely ) to an i7 920/930.Many simmers over-clock it with a good cooling system. My question is: Which one is good? ( keeping in mind that I have in mind to spend around 450/500 € between processor and cooling system... and 200/250 € will be spent , obviously, on the processor... ) Big%20Grin.gifThank you very much for the assistance.

Has nothing to do with the MD11, but if you are willing to upgrade you should check out the I5 2500 K. It is more modern than the I7 920 and can reach higher clock speeds.

Yes, i5 2500k or i7 2600k are definitely the way to go. You can easily OC to somewhere in the 4.4-4.8GHz range with a good air cooler. The i5 2500k will also cost less than the i7 920. If I'm not mistaken, the 2nd gen's (2500k/2600k) can also handle more instructions per cycle. Only catch is make sure it has the 'k' suffix or you won't be able to OC it effectively. That and make sure the motherboard has the P67 chipset, not H67 (same problem).
