Ok so I had a pretty cheap water cooler and was having trouble getting my CPU temps down to a comfortable level, so I decided to go ahead and get a Decent brand new Corsair H70 and after carefully installing it found it made only 2 or 3c diffrence over the old cooler. Running prime 95 my CPU reaches 75c within 10 mins (idle at 40 to 42 with a 23c room temp) which I know is within limits but its still a little warm for my tastes.Bear in mind that thats a only 3.6 Ghz! I tried raising my BCLK to 160 (24x multiplier) that gives me 3.8ghz but puts the loaded temps into the 82c to 85+ area!I have plenty of cooling in the case including a top mounted 200mm fan and 1 120mm pushing air over the chipset/ram from outside the case but I cannot seem to get an real change. I nstalled the H70 properly and the CPU was queaky clean when I pushed the cooler head on to it before tightening the screws (not overtight)I cant imagine how you guys manage to get 4Ghz out of the 950 series of i7 when I cannot even get to 3.8 without pushing right up to the limits.Anyone know any other tricks I might be able to try?ThanksAndy

what are your voltage reading.? what kind of memory using tight timings? Also sometimes it depends on the luck of the draw. For example I had a 975 could never get it to go over 4.0 and temps were always running hihg, each chip even though it might be the same works a bit different, need a bit of luck here.

Its Latency Timings - CL9 ( 9-9-9-27 ) @1.65v for memory and 1.28v for the CPU, its very very stable at 3.6 as thats how ive been using it. It just does not want to go anywhere near 3.8. I think I may be unlucky. Either that or the temps are a lie.

What core voltage do you set in BIOS when increasing the OC to 3.8GHz?
