July 22, 201114 yr How does FS9 calculate indicated altitude?I found this formula:indicated_altitude = (kollsman_pressure - ambient_pressure) * pressure_gradientWhich gave 1000 ft/inhg for the pressure gradient. When I calculated the gradient using the data on the wiki for the ISA I came to 1070 ft/inhg.Is this formula good for FS9 and which gradient should I use?
July 22, 201114 yr Neither, as the pressure gradient of the ISA - International Standard Atmosphere used in aviation (ICAO) varies non-linearly with height. To calc altitude use the free AdaCalc. It includes a free software library to call the functions it developping software is what you're up to.Cheers,- jahman.
