July 24, 201114 yr Hi!I recently found the topic about the 3GB switch on the XP that could solve the problem of 'out of memory' error in FS9 and I decided that I would try this method. So I did everything according to the steps described and everything looked perfect when the Windows started. I started AISmooth and ActiveSky but when I started SpeedUp 0.7 Beta a Windows error popped out saying that some graphic card drivers are not working properly and there may be problem with viewing 3D objects. Thus, I rebooted Windows, once again opened all these programs and no error popped out.I started FS but it turned out that cumulus clouds looked like stratus :D So unfortunately the problem of viewing 3D objects remained. Thus my question is: Is there a solution to the problem, so that I can operate on 3GB XP with all the drivers working properly?I am using XP Home edition, FS9.1, GeForce Gt430 graphic card and 3GB RAM. Suggestions such as 'try a clean install' won't help because I changed the hard disk and the graphic card like 3 weeks ago and ALL I have installed so far are FS, add-ons and necessary drivers. I would appreciate your help very very much! :)

In your case, I would guess that your userva number is too low to give you graphics driver the room it needs.DJ

I'm far from being an expert in computer science so please help what userva number should I use?

July 24, 201114 yr Best suggestion ever for FS9 is XP64 with the FS9.exe modified to LARGEADDRESSAWARE, then you don't have to worry about /3gb or boot.ini userva settings at all...-P Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

I changed from Vista to XP beacuse I didn't know that XP can use only 2GB RAM...But would all the FS applications and add-ons run without any problem on the 64 bit Windows version?Alright, I solved the problem with the clouds - I don't know how but the FS settings changed 'automatically' :( maybe because I changed the fs9.exe to run in >2gb adresset...I changed the Userva to 2560 but I noticed that the ground scenery now flashes, even the default FS one... Can it be caused by the changes that I applied?

Can it be caused by the changes that I applied?Yes, the very best solution would be Win7 x64; most of the usual add-ons run just fine with the exception of the old RXP gauges in the Meridian and the Dreamfleet planes. I use it and love it. I know there are folks who swear by XP x64, but I'm not one of them. Flashing can have lots of causes; try adjusting your graphics settings first.DJ
