B1900C in FSX - no VC?

Featured Replies

Hi all,I've just downloaded and installed the Beech 1900C and followed the instructions for moving it to FSX. I don;t have FS9 so I installed to a temporary folder first. The aircraft loads fine and I can see the 2D panel, but the virtual cockit doesn't appear at all. I've re-checked the instructions for importing to FSX and I can't see any steps I might have missed. I'm running Vista with UAC off and I always run installers and FSX as Administrator. Can anyone help? Thanks,Paul Synnott

Hi,Does it have a VC? Not all planes do.

That was actually my first thought too, so I rechecked the blurb on the site... "Hightly detailed virtual cockpit. Dozens of clickable switches, levers and knobs allow you to fully operate the aircraft from startup to shutdown. Window reflections, rain effects and an incredible level of detail will immerse you in the flying experience." ...so it looks like it should have one, and there's nothing in the instructions for importing to FSX that suggest that the VC won't be functional. You can expect problems when trying to use FS9 addons in FSX, but maybe someone was able to make it work. That's what PMDG says about it:

  • This version is compatible only with Flight Simulator 2004 (9.1).

  • Not compatible with FSX.

Hi Paul There is indeed a VC cockpit and virtual cabin included with the PMDG 1900 series but there are also 2D only versions included so you will need to go through you aircraft.cfg files and remove them if you only want the VC versions available, otherwise all the versions, both 2D only and the Virtual Cockpit aircraft will show up in the aircraft selection screen. The entries you would be looking to keep so that you only have the VC versions will have something like the following as the first entries.. [fltsim.0]title=British Airways CitiExpress Beech B1900D - VC/Cabinsim=beech_1900Dmodel=VCCABpanel=VC…….…... it's the model= and the panel= entries that you will be interested in, although the title= entry is also a good guide as to which version it refers to. I hope it helps. Jim Hodkinson

Thanks Hodge001; after a nanosecond's thought, your explanation makes perfect sense. I've come across that before once, ages ago, with an aircraft imported from FS9. I guess I should have read the descriptions properly when selecting aircraft. I never actually owned FS9 so it's not something I'm used to. I'll try it again this evening and see what happens. Well, it was as you said. The first three aircraft in the list were 2D only. Serves me right for not reading the descriptions propery before clicking. I selected the correct one this time and was rewarded with a properly-functioning VC. Looks great at night, too. Thanks for the help! Paul Synnott

Hi Paul Don’t worry about it, how do you think I found it out. Jim Hodkinson
