PMDG Livery Manager -some thoughts & questions

Featured Replies

Hello Ryan, PMDG & simmers, I thought I would start a different thread here rather than it getting lost in the repaint requests thread Ryan posted/pinned for the NGX. I am pleased to hear there is going to be an installer that will simplify the addition of repaints from the community, but I had some questions/comments about it. :(

  1. Will the Livery Manager take care of both FSX and FS9 aircraft or is this just FSX only? Ryan mentions it is going to be made compatible with all product lines.
  2. Is this utlity free or does it come with the NGX package -I'm not exactly sure what the roll-out plan is?
  3. If FS2004 is supported, I'm hoping that the nuances in the aircraft.cfg between the FS2004 and FSX are addressed in this utility?

ThxMark

1) Well as you've said already, it's going to be compatible with all products from PMDG. So FS9 products should be included.2) I'm sure it'll be for free because there are people who won't buy the NGX (I know it's hard to beleave :( ).3) If they do it for FS9 I'm sure they'll do it right. They haven't forgotten all the stuff from FS9, though they aren't developing for it anylonger :( If things are going to be different, please correct me!

Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!

My guess this livery manager would be for the 737NGX and future products only. Would make sense rather than change whatever is in place.Custom liveries would still need to be manually done I assume though.John Ellison

No, they've already said that, after the release of the NGX, this application will be made availeble for all PMDG products, including the previous released ones. PMDG also said that they will make it easy for painters to include their liverys in the manager.

I think your responses are just assumptions at this time. It's clear others don't necessarily agree with what you stated, unfortunately. Re#1, there's some discrepancy here I think or room for questions. All products as stated in Ryan's message vs PMDG's focus to support FSX only in the future. Re #3, sure, but there's still opportunities for improvement here I believe. Even with expert guidance provided already , the # of issues with getting installed aircraft to show correctly in FSX and /or FS2004 in this forum are still quite signficant. I hope the utility will address many of them. The ability to manage them from one place will help tremendously. RegardsMark
