July 28, 201114 yr Since building my new computer the following issues have come up: 1) On startup about 1 out of 10 times the video card starts distorted, pixilated almost like you would see with a defective card. I generally corrects itself and goes away after a minute or two. This happens at the BIOS screen as well so not a Windows problem. I have contacted ASUS tech support and they suggested using an eraser to clean the contacts and try again. That has not fixed the problem. Next step is to try a different slot, which I will try but I wonder if that will affect my computers performance ? If that fails its RMA time. 2) Despite what I consider great system specs, I still get two types of performance issues while in flight: - Smooth flight then a 1 second pause/stutter before things continue. - Really smooth flight then from outside view, micro stutters of the ground textures. - This is over high end scenery I will admit. FS Genesis, ORBX PNW. Also noticed it in Europe flying ConcordeX over GEX and UTX. My scenery settings are high but not full up. Mark. Mark CYYZ
July 28, 201114 yr 1) No idea... I'd probably just RMA it to be safe. You shouldn't need to clean contacts on a brand new card. 2) Make sure nothing is running in Win7, such as a java updater, Win7 downloading/installing hotfixes, AV updates etc etcStutters can be tough to figure out. FWIW I get micro stutters unless I use an external limiter. So I use the external limiter, frames unlimited in game, AND disable vsync. Some people don't like the tearing but I hardly notice it.It could even be an indication of stability issues. Even with P95, OCCT, IBT successful passes FSX might not like certain overclock settings. Did you encounter any of this at stock settings? edit: Oh I forgot to mention, Orbx Land is even a little stuttery for me from time to time.
