December 20, 200322 yr I was wondering if anyone else is having problems using the FFX/SGA 727-200's or the DC-10's in FS9? Even with the updated aircraft config, I almost run out of runway getting the 727 up to speed enough to rotate. And the DC-10's - I've never been able to get airborne at all, no matter what the flap settings (at over 180 knots).Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to get the DC-10's going in 2004.Scott
December 20, 200322 yr I had trouble with the FFX DC-9, after I would set the fuel I would click Ok and FS9 would crash. I also had a wierd thing happening with the FXX 737-300. On the fuel planner it would keep telling me that the plane is over wieght, even with only 40% of fuel in each tank and 0 on the payload capacity.
December 21, 200322 yr See, that's the killer. All my 737's from them work just fine - much better than the stock MS stuff. I'll have to try to tinker around a little more and see what I can do.Scott
December 21, 200322 yr I still flew the 737-300 even though it said I was over weight. It seemed to fly normal.
December 22, 200322 yr I have tried editing the config file to bring the weight down and still I can not get this plane to rotate. I was having the same issue as somone else where FS9 would crash while trying to loadout. This I corrected but something else needs to be done .I say this because if you get up to about 160 knots and rotate the plane will not nose up however if you push the stick foreward to nose down the rear wheels will leave the runway . Its almost like there is something in the config that will not allow that front gear to leave the runway for whatever reason. try it sometime and see. If anyone finally gets these aircraft to work let us all know .
December 22, 200322 yr I don't think the problem is in getting the weight down, vs. where the weight is in relation to the main gear. If it is too far forward of the main gear, then the COG may be too far forward as well. Think of trying to balance something--the balance point needs to be very nearly centered. Many FDE designers are subtracting the weight of the engines from the aircraft's empty weight, and adding it into the loadout so the aircraft has more accurate dynamics. In the case of both the 727 and the DC-10, having those rear engines factored into the COG would bring it back closer to the mains, making it easier to rotate... Think of the mains as a balance point. If all the weight is forward of it, it will be very hard for the elevator to overcome that and rotate the aircraft.-John
December 22, 200322 yr Moderator I had the same problem until I did two things - You MUST have up trim set to 1 or 1 1/2 or it will not rotate. My model starts out overweight by default - I have to move the weight around or change fuel to get it in range.Either spec out of range and the model will not rotate.HTH,Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
December 23, 200322 yr Well VicYou are right but since I have little experience with trim settings its back to the drawing board for me as I have destroyed seval aircraft while playing with the trim settings .I had a lot of fun playing with that and will be getting better thanks for all the help
