Can the 737NGX be used for type rating training?

Featured Replies

I instruct in one of the multi-million dollar sims. No, FSX will not duplicate the force dynamics of a Level D sim. On the other hand, we have what we call a graphical flight simulator which is eight 10" x 18" touch screen monitors linked to software duplicating the panel and systems. Many professional pilots see the GFS as a great bridge between the classroom and the high dollar sim. FSX/NGX could be just as valuable in that sense. When one gets to the sim after practicing flows and checklists on the FSX/NGX there can be nothing but an advantage in training. I must also go ahead and say that during periods of government induced unemployment, I have used FSX to maintain my instrument scans and keep my head in the game, so to speak. Throw rocks if you will but FSX and certain addons have profeciency value if limitations are recognized.

Happy landings,

But if you wanted to prep for a type this rating, this ngx will definotely get you way ahead of e game before you get in the level D sim. JackColwill
A buddy of mine is going to buy the NGX for this particular purpose. He's not a simmer, but after talking to me about it he decided to give it a go. He's currently flying 744's, but he'll switch to NGs in a few months
