September 21, 201114 yr Commercial Member Toby23, yes, the RV7 is still in beta. There has been one version update since the initial release. Feedback on the BTS forum has been great and very useful. The public beta has really flushed out all the finer points of features people are looking for, and minor bugs to address. The focus today is on writing a configuration tool. Right now there are no severe blocker bugs; but the beta label will remain. We want the final to be very polished. PinPong I’m really glad you’re flying the RV7, obviously as a 9 owner you know your RV’s ;) This project is a way for me to prototype the RV I want to build. So it’s an RV project as much as an FS project. The goal is to help other RV-builders prototype their projects too. That’s going to be challenging; but it is the idea. To start, this is a practical way to prototype paint schemes – and there is already an enthusiastic group doing paints. I’m often asked about the 9 because it shares many components with the 7, I’d say long term the goal is to do the 9 as well. The required changes for an FS model are actually fairly extensive, so unfortunately it is not something I’d expect soon. Ron, I think I’ve mentioned this before; the RXP GNS was used for development because it is the most authentic GPS. I have talked with Jean-Luc about bundling it, but unfortunately it just wasn’t practical in the end. But I am a hardcore RXP user. If you do decide to fly the RV7, make a special note of Bert’s comments about the 3D knobs and buttons. The software to link the 3D buttons to the RXP GNS has not been developed yet. Bert has been flying the RV7 and has developed a 3D button solution independently using registered FSUIPC. And he’s made this available to users that are interested. So officially it’s not 100% supported yet – but Bert has an option to make it work. Regards,Danny MaherBTS
