August 2, 201114 yr Hey All, Some of you may remember this project starting some time ago. I have personally been waiting for this one for quite a while and will be picking it up in a few moments. I have wanted a new RV-7/RV-7A for some time since I really enjoyed the offering from FFS some time ago. Danny over at BayTower has made the Beta available for purchase to those who would like to fly it now. It looks like he is wrapping up the manuals and the full release should follow very soon. The modeling looks fantastic, as does the VC. This one looks to be a real stunner. August 3, 201114 yr This is a seriously nice airplane - I've had the pleasure to test it for a while now,and it is a personal favorite. The graphics are excellent, and it is fast and nimble to fly. The installed avionics are quite powerful and the RXP GNS530W wheninstalled, works like a charm. Highly recommended! Bert
August 3, 201114 yr Author Bert, how do I install the RXP GNS530? Also, does it retain the 3D buttons ad whatnot in the VC? The VC is great, heck, the whole aircraft is great. Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
August 3, 201114 yr I too was quite pleasantly surprised when i found out about this release (only yesterday because of this thread). And I am also happy to see that Bert enjoys it. Same question, is there an automatic config tool for the RXP 530, or was it Bert's personal magic at work? I usually do my retrofits on my own, but I see some 3D in there and wondering about the relationship with the RXP. August 3, 201114 yr It is not hard to do - and if you have a registered copy of FSUIPC, the 3d buttonscan be activated for the RXP unit. Without that, you have to pop up the GPS to adjust the buttons. Not sure if this is a limitation of the beta version.. (the default GPS works right out of the box..) Start by changing: [Window01]size_mm=300,355position=8visible=0ident=15327 gauge00=rxpGNS!GMA340, 0,0,300,60gauge01=rxpGNS!GNS530, 0,60,300,216gauge02=rxpGNS!GTX327, 0,276,300,79 and [VCockpit02]size_mm=512,512pixel_size=512,512texture=$vcGarminStackbackground_color=0,0,0 gauge00=rxpGNS!GMA340, 0,0,512,87gauge01=rxpGNS!GNS530, 0,87,512,312gauge02=rxpGNS!GTX327, 0,399,512,113 send me a PM with your email address if you want to try the FSUIPCactivation of the 3d buttons Bert
August 6, 201114 yr ..and just wanted say one more time that if you are not currently busy withthe PMDG 737, and more of a small plane fan - this is a really nice planeto go exploring your favorite scenic areas in. It will fly at 180 knots, soyou are getting somewhere fast and it has a nifty autopilot that will followyour GPS or a set heading. Great little airplane! August 6, 201114 yr Commercial Member An RV is what PIC’s fly on their days off It’s great for me to see an RV thread here on Avsim. It may seem strange that RV7 isn’t being officially promoted in any way...it will be.That’ll happen once the beta is closed and a final release version is available. The main message now is; the RV7 is in the pattern :)And, I hope you’ll be catching a glimpse of it here and there.Look forward to better information, on what exactly is included in the project. The original alpha and beta group was about twelve selected people. Now with a public beta there are another fifty pilots. That gives a much better cross section of users and manageable enough to keep the beta support personal. It also means I can better see common threads in the feedback, which is great for final planning. And, everyone has an option to fly now using the beta offer. So far most of the RV7 users have a specific interest in the RV; they’re builders, owners, and RV dreamers. The feedback has been very positive. And we’ve found and fixed an infrequent but serious bug. And also learned DX10 can’t draw the paint shader – which was developed and tested on DX9. These are the sort of things you expect to be sorted out in a final release. Van’s RV7 will grow on anyone that’s not already familiar with the aircraft. They look great with a good paint job. It has a builder option for either tricycle or taildragged gear. And two canopy options as well. The defining feature of the RV7 is it’s combination of high cruise speed and low stall speed. Van’s designed the aircraft with short farm strips in mind. This translates really well in the sim...because you're often flying, looking for what's over the next hill, and then you'll want to drop into whatever field option you happen to find. Other times you want a very structured flight at high speed. Thanks for any interest in the FSX project. And especially thanks to any pilots flying right now :)Danny edit...This link goes to a public page...http://www.baytower....c.php?f=1&t=135As noted, the link in bert's post above goes to a member's page. And - once beta closes, forum membership will be optional.
August 6, 201114 yr Author Danny, you did a great job on this one! It is the perfect GA aircraft for Orbx fans who love those smaller aiports. With the excellent visibility of the aircraft, she is a real treat with great scenery around you. Any chance of a future patch that won't require a registerted version of FSUIPC for the 3D RXP gause addition? Bert, thanks for the information regarding the RXP gauge. I would have gotten back to you sooner but my job as of late has been aything but slow (I'm an IT Recruiter). Looks like I will need a registered version of FSUIPC unless this is patched/changed/etc.. later. I picked it up the registered version for FS9, but have yet too for FSX. On a side note, just read over at teh BayTower forum that Sonic Solutions is creating a soundpack to go with the RV-7/7A. That's great news!!! Thanks! August 6, 201114 yr Commercial Member Thanks Arklight, Unfortunately, the FSUIPC solution won't work entirely with your most recent build.I apologize to Bert because I didn't make him aware of a recent change (to the 3D GNS knobs). What I will do is bring that back online as soon as I can. It’s true your RXP gauges won't be able to communicate with the 3D buttons right now.The quick answer is a gauge will be developed to manage this for you. However this work hasn’t been arranged yet…This happens because the 2D virtual gauges textures aren’t mapped directly onto the buttons - just the screens. The 3D stack uses a texture map that’s custom made for it.The upside is complete control of the look - shininess, brightness, color, and so on.The downside is there is no built-in connection between the buttons and the RXP gauge. The decision was to accept that for now, and attempt a C++ gauge to make the connection.I was completely surprised when Bert emailed me and said he already had a working solution… :)I have used RXP throughout RV development, because I’m a big fan of RXP’s GNS :)However for now the FSUIPC solution is only about %80 effective due to a recent change Danny

September 21, 201114 yr I just got it, I love it. I own a 9a in real life and flying this thing makes me wish I had bought a 7. Also the panel looks almost exactly like my real plane so I feel right at home it it.
September 21, 201114 yr I love how these guys are getting serious with the whole RXP in the VC thing, really really makes the difference for me, Im going to buy this plane just for the RXP VC options, Im sure its a great plane.
