August 4, 201114 yr Hi guys.I' think ive finally decided on my what my build will be. Ive heared mixed reviews with i5 and i7 and hear there is not much difference to run fsx anyhow. This is the system;Case:Coolermaster 690 II AdvancedPSU: 650W Hale Modular NZXTGPU: GeForce GTX 560Ti, 1gb.CPU:Intel Core i5 2500k 3.3ghz overclocked to 4.5ghz (brought as a o'cd bundle from scan.co.uk, comes with warranty) scan.co.ukCooler: Corsair H60Mobo: MSI P67A-G45 Intel P67 ChipsetRAM: 4gb DDR3 1600Mhz. Corsair.Any views guys?? Adam
August 4, 201114 yr 650W is ok but I would have a better sense of comfort with a 750W. I would also take the RAM up to 8GB. While true FSX is a 32-bit program that can only use 4GB RAM blah-blah-blah, there is still beneift in allowing FSX the full use of 4GB and the remaining 4GB for other programs. I also find the system more responsive with 8GB RAM vs. 4GB (can't put my finger on it but internet browsing seemsSnappier, so do other things like Office e.t.c.). No big deal, the world will not end with 4GB, just my 2-cents. August 4, 201114 yr Author Thanks Gary, I've looked into my PSU, I emailed the technical advice at Scan and they say; ''When they state system this is the overall power requirements for the whole system encorporating the graphics. As such taking into consideration that the CPU will use about 20W more when overclocked, this still gives 520W and as such the 650W is still going to cover this.Best Regards,'' Adam
August 4, 201114 yr 650W is plenty. I promise. Some (most) folks over kill on the PSU. A hand full under estimate the need. Yours is perfect. You're going to make FSX your prison b***. Sorry. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
August 4, 201114 yr 650W will be fine. The only reason to consider more power would be if you might run multiple GPUs in the future. I would put the emphasis on getting a really good PSU. Corsair and Seasonic are both great brands to buy PSUs from. August 6, 201114 yr If you really want some killer speeds you could go with a SSD for FSX and possibly windows. Then you can have a 1TB for data. Or two if you want it set up in RAID.
