August 5, 201114 yr I have a DELL Studio XPS system purchased with the Intel i7 860 clocked at 2.8GHz. Intel's Turbo boost technology allows the speed to ramp up to 3.2 GHz when required. In fact when FSX is running I can see on the widget that the processor is continuously running at 3.2GHz. I'm about to purchase 737NGX but I'm a bit concerned about the processor struggling at the default speed especially as I also run Radar Contact,Real Environment 2,Ultimate Traffic 2 and VFR photographic Scenery all at the same time. My full system specs are..... Intel i7 [email protected] DDR3 Ram @666MHzFSX and all relevant software installed on 620 GB HDD @7200RPMnVidia GeForce GTS240 1GBWindows 7 64Bit SP1 (UAC Disabled 'cos I hate it) I may also need to look into some extra cooling as the processor idles at 35C at room temperature ( MB temp 22C). I'm led to believe that Dell systems cannot be overclocked, is this true? Thanks. Anthony O'Brien
August 5, 201114 yr You can overclock, it depends in the way the BIOS is programed. You should be fine to run the 737NGX. You may have to disable Ultimate Traffic and Radar Contact, depending on FSX Settings. PMDG Boeing 737NGX Captain

August 5, 201114 yr Author What's your RAM frequency ??? Devil's one ? 6GB DDR3 Ram @667MHz according to Speccy but I presume I multiply by 2 (DDR) so 1333MHz Anthony O'Brien
August 5, 201114 yr Here you can upgrade by dumping your case and motherboard relatively inexpensively: Case:http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811121035 Motherboard:http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813131604 Then you can overclock it pretty easily. I have mine at 4Ghz with the Megahelms cooler: http://www.newegg.co...1&Tpk=megahelms
August 5, 201114 yr Author Thanks for that............ and I thought my PC was a decent spec. Anthony O'Brien
August 7, 201114 yr First off you will need to download SetFSB 2.2.134.98 software, look for a free copy. I have it and bought a Corsair H50 to cool cpu. If I can install the cooling you can, you will have to unscrew the mother board to install cooling bracket. Here is a video off YouTube that shows the setup. The clock Generator for my i7 is CV183APAG might be the same for yours. FSB set at 107 which gives you 3288.9MHz anything set above 110 blue screen. Anyway watch video.
