FS Enhancer 2004- Anyone tried it Yet?

Featured Replies

I loved the product for FS2002, seems like they really pushed it further for 2004. Anyone install and try it yet? Best,Joel

Bought it.Pros and cons mostly pros.1> Right now there is no implimentation of user created library objects but Lago has stated they expect this within a week or so.2> Most objects are the exact same as FSSE with the addition of several vehicles.3> Lago has found a way to include the 2000 or so default FS9 xml macros into FSE and plan on added these very soon.4> Adding moving objects works very well but getting the hang of recording tracks is a bit touchy. Not really adapted to Recording Planes like FStraffic was mainly meant for Ground objects.5> A few problems like the Piper GA still has only one wheel but everything hinges on user created objects. With the ability to create library objects from api's the possiblitys open up. Expect many addition objects to be added I personally plan on creating dozens of addon librarys like GA Planes, small hangers and night lighting.6> Using library objects greatly reduces the scenery load so very little impact of frame rates7> Once again you have to own FSE to be able to use the scenery created by others.Dennis Waggoner

Hello All,I've bought it, (also bought the last one for an earlier version of FS) and I can tell you that it really makes scenery work! Gates, ramps, deicing stations, houses, castles, highrise buildings, and I could go on and on . . . not tomention that now we can actually make the cars and trucks have their own tracks and pull right up to the airport and slide next to the waiting aircraft. With this feature alone it could be most interesting. Hmmm . . . Biz jet waiting for celebritity to arrive . . . or diamond shipment whatever...my mind is running rampant.Anyways, waiting or code now, yes the six objects took about 3 minutes to install . . . can't wait to fill FS full of new items.I loved it before and it is just so much better.Best to all and happy holidays . . . Goodwill towards men, (and the gals, too .Clay

Just d/load it and have a go. You are limited to only 6 objects per airport until you register the product which should be enough for you to decide if it is to your liking.DavidIntel P4 3.2 Ghz processor hyperthreadingIntel D865GBF 800 FSB motherboard1 Mb Kingston PC3200/DDR 400 RAMATI Radeon 9800XT video cardSound Blaster Audugy 2 sound card200 Gb Maxtor hard disk17" LG Electronics LCD screenWIndows XP Pro

I got the registered version and I've been playing around with it. It has a few bugs, to say the least. If you have ActiveCamera installed, you won't be able to use the default keys in FSE2004 to rotate or tilt the objects you place. You either have to remove ActiveCamera or reassign the numpad 1,3,7 &,9,keys in ActiveCamera or FSE2004. No mention of fixing this. This version includes the ability to add moving ground vehicles to the scenery. Ive tried that too, but it's a little buggy also. Sometimes the objects just disappear from the scenery file so they don't appear in the scenery. Sound is also another feature of this version. Some of the objects have sounds associated with them so you now can hear things like truck engines and generators running. You can also add environmental sounds like ocean waves, street sounds, etc. This part seems to be working OK and adds a lot to the airport ambiance. The pre-issue hype was that you would be able to add your own objects to the FSE2004 library of objects. This part also does not work. Lago has said that this feature was not ready for the released version, but will be available in an upcoming upgrade. My biggest disappointment in this version is the elimination of a lot of the airport objects that were in the FS2K2 version. They didn't include objects like the pushback trucks, baggage trucks, the forklift, catering trucks, freight conveyers, pallet loaders and a lot of the buildings and ships. Lago's explanation is that these objects were part of FS2K2's object library and they weren't able to locate them in FS9's object library prior to FSE2004's release, so they weren't included. They will try to add them to an upcoming upgrade.I personally believe that the product was released prematurely. Lago had promised to have it released before Christmas and it was...ready or not! There is a lot of discussion on the Lago forum concerning this. Lago has said that they will be adding more objects, features, etc in the oft-mentioned upgrade to be released "shortly". IF the ability to add user-made objects to the object library is made available, and IF the dynamic scenery bugs are repaired and IF the objects from the FS9 objects library are added and IF the conflict with ActiveCamera is resolved, then this will be a killer program. That's four big IF's. As it stands now, I can't find much use for it, so it's just sitting there on my hard drive waiting to be fixed. Not much fun adding just ladders and generators and fences to airports. If you want to get more information on the product, just visit the Lago forum for some enlightenment. I think you'll see what I'm talking about.Ray

That's four big IF'sI have to agree. With a bunch of the Development team leaving in a week to go to Aerosoft. Who has the technical ability to impliment these features? Right now if you buy FSE for FS2004 you are in effect getting the same thing as FSSE for 2002 with the addition of a slightly buggy dymanic scenery track creator. Of Coarse FSSE was a great addon in itself but be aware that many of the 600 advertized objects included are three color selections of the same object. I mean how many white gray or blue Fuel Trucks do you need. Also many of the objects textures are not up to snuff in my opinion and some of the new objects are out of scale and do not look right. Those four big IF's Mentioned if implimented will make FSE the best addon ever for FS9 as it stands right now its just a slight upgrade to the original FSSE with new bugs, old problems but generally a good addon worth the Money.Dennis Waggoner

No mention of fixing this.I remapped my Active Camera keys from Crtl-1 ...> Ctrl-9 to Shift-1 ...>Shift-9. Of coarse I loose the FS9 default hotkeys for panel windows but with VC's and Icons was a small tradeof as I never used the Shift-Windows keys anywayDennis Waggoner

Couldn't you just turn active camera "off" while using FSSE, then reactivate the views you use when you're finished editing scenery?Best,Joel

In order to make FSE2004 work, you have to remove the ActiveCamera2004.dll from the FS9 Modules directory. Simply turning it off from within FS9 doesn't work. Of course you could remove it when you wanted to make scenery with FSE2004 and replace it when you wanted to use ActiveCamera, but that would be very inconvenient. You would have to exit and restart FS9 every time you shuffled dll's.Ray

Wow, we must be thinking and talking apples and oranges . . . either that or I don't understand what it has to do with AC2004?I have AC2004 and why in the world would I use it while I'm making scenery enhancements? Not trying to be a Smart A*s, however It doesn't compute with me.worked on one airport all afternoon and had no problems with it at all.Clay

I'm not saying you have to be using AC2004. It is a known bug stated by Lago that the ActiveCamera2004.dll and the FSE.dll will conflict with one another such that numpad keys 1,3,7,and 9 will not function in FSE. These are the keys that allow the FSE objects to be rotated left and right and pivoted clockwise and counterclockwise. The only way to get the numpad keys to function in FSE is to remove the ActiveCamera.dll file from the FS9 Modules directory. This action would make ActiveCamera2004 non-functional. Hope this is clear.Ray

Ray,Then I MUST BE THE EXCEPTION as I have active camera and FSSE2004 and just have spent the afternoon making scenery improvments and experienced nothing of the above. Perhaps I am a lucky one, but I have had NO problems.Clay

There is no need to remove Active Sky. There are some commands such as the the rotate command keys that are also used in Active Sky 1.1. Just go into either the Lago Menue drop down to the Key Assigner or to Active Sky's key assigner and change the duplicate keys. I do not have FSSE yet, but reading the forums at Lago indicates this works.Tony

Active Sky? What's with Active Sky? Isn't that a weather program? What's it got to do with FSE2004? The problem is with ActiveCamera.Ray
