Is changing from gameport to USB pedals worth it?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of getting USB pedals for xmas to replace my gameport ones. I have no complaints about the gameport ones, but with that mode the joystick choices have become more and more limited. Also, I've been strongly considering going to a force-feedback stick, especially if force feedback exhibits any feel for sidereal motion at touchdown.Currently I have CH pedals and stick. Thanks in advance for any input.

I like the CH Yoke..But I hate the CH Pedals..Cause,, the CH Pedals are just too light... you can push the pedals with your toes... this is so far from reality. I fly Cessna 172s.. At the end of my flying...My legs hurt..cause I have to press the Right Rudder so much in real flying..The CH Pedals just doesn't cut it.However... I would think that having pedals is better than not having one at all.I know..there are other non CH Pedals out there.,.. and they are expensive... and I don't know how realistic they are either.IF anyone else have used other Pedals would like get a feedback ... If those Pedals are more realistic... I may bite the bullet and get them myself.Manny

I agree that the pedals aren't as good as they could be, but I'd rather have them than not. They're esp. bad on the ground. One can adjust certain things to make them less sensitive, though, both for particualr aircraft and the pedals themselves. Obviously I'd be interested to hear about any pedals, not just CH.So the question is more whether it's worth "upgrading" to USB pedals in order to avail myself of the benefits of USB sticks/yokes-- e.g., force feedback. Someone in another thread posted a link to FS Force ( http://www.dirks-software.ca/fs-force/ ). I wonder if anyone can comment on that, also.

Hi there, If your wallet can afford it, I highly recommend the PFC Cirrus rudder pedals. I've been using them for the past few weeks in preparation for my flight lessons and they are very realistic in terms of feel and performance. Along with my PFC beech yoke and turboprop throttle quandrant, they are the pride and joy of my simming set-up.J.C. (MYNN)

I'm afraid I can't afford the Cirrus pedals, but they look good. Good luck with the lessons. I got my ticket in July after years of simming.
