Is it normal for window heat "on" lights to go off and on periodically?

Featured Replies

Through out my flights the window heat on lights will go on and off really randomly. there's not an overheat condition, the lights just turn off. What's the deal? Mitch Bowman

I've had the same thing happen to me, although that was with very high OAT and subsequent duct overheats so I thought it was to do with that. Would be good to know if this is a bug or something that's supposed to happen!

Automatic shutoffs if it gets too hot. It's safe to leave them in the on position no matter the OAT. They should turn back on if more heat is needed.

It is normal to seem the cycle off on the ground on hot days. I have never noticed them cycle off in flight though. I think the temp to cycle off it 100 degrees F. Either that or 110 F.
