Removing the virtual yoke from a VC

Featured Replies

I downloaded the C119 Fairchild Flying Boxcar, and I really like this aircraft. The VC is pretty good, and the plane can be flown from the most part from there, but the image of the yoke covers most of the HSI. Is there any way to edit it out? I tried the Shift 1-9 keys, and none of them will remove the yoke as I have found in some other A/C. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Unlike the 2D panels where it's a separate module, I think the yoke is part of the model itself, and is unfortunately in there for good. You could turn off the entier VC, but obviously this does no good. "virtual" yokes and rudder pedals don't do much for me... I can tell where my hands and feet are on the controls, and I don't need the visual representation. The throttle, though, is useful to see. Perhaps some developers will NOT include the panel-blocking yokes in the future (or figure out a way to have them toggle on and off).-Greg

what I always do with Active Camera is making a profile (.avr) for a particular aircraft. E.g. in flight with a keypress you can look over the yoke close to the HSI and with a keypress you're back to normal. That way you can adjust very quickly and naturally (like bending over, looking close) your view point to every possible angle in the VC. No irritations anymore :)Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. To go down, pull the stick back harder"

Thanks for your replies. I don't have active camera, and I attempted to try and edit the panel with the program provided in the link, but I couldn't find a graphic file for the c119 that had the yoke in it. For fun I tried with other aircraft, and could find the right file, so I guess I'm stuck with the yoke. Thanks again for your help guys!

Hi,The bmp you want to edit is c119_vc05.bmp. I just tried it and I did eliminate the yoke.Ed

HiExcellent tip on how to remove the C-119 yoke. Thank you. It should work for all of the FS2004 aircraft, right? How about the DC-3 yoke? What is its' file name?I guess the VC yoke is a nice touch and all that, but it is kind of annoying when on a "white knuckle" IFR approach. Thanks,DonaldS

Hi,The dc-3 yoke is douglas_dc3_2_c.bmp. I've only removed a couple of them but I think it should work on all planes.I don't see the need for a yoke when I have one in front of me.Ed

Ed, Thank you so much for your help! I was able to edit out the yoke. Worked like a charm. Thanks again!

just wanted to pop in and find out some stuff. Its obvious you guys are against the VC yoke. I came up with an idea that will be implemented on our DHC-2. I want to run it by you guys and see what you think, and maybe someone else will like this idea for their own models. There's always a few 'extra animations' laying around, and my favorite is the concorde nose/visor animaitions. (i could do without the sounds) I create a box and name it 'visor' and link all my yokes to it. Now when your on a white knuckler you hit the visor key and the yokes slide down 6-12 inches so you can see. then you can bring em back up at your leisure. this way you dont have an 'all or nothing' situation...like?joe

Hi,For me, the yoke is redundent as I already have a ch yoke. I would like to see everyplane come out with an option to use the yoke in a vitural cocpit or not.Just my opinion.Ed
