Textures blurring

Featured Replies

Hi all, I haven't been on FSX in quite a while so i've been blowing the cobwebs off it after I bought the NGX. My main problem is performance, it's not brilliant, I can't even remember what I had before... Oh and it's my first PMDG product. My specs are: Q6600 2.4ghz overclocked to 3.0ghz2gb ram8800 gts ~320mb24" monitor - native resolution 1920 X 1080Windows 7 64 bit FSX settings are as follows: Resolution: 1280 x 768 (I changed this, it helped a lot)Filtering: AntistropicAdvanced animation only tickedGlobal texture resolution: very high Scenery: Complexity: Extremely denseAutogen: SparseLOD: smallrest are 'in the middle' With those i'm getting around maybe 9 fps on the ground at LFMK (default scenery) and around 17 fps in the air. After I was flying for a bit, I changed views, this then caused all the textures to blur and the menu (alt) was unreadable. I'm guessing this is more of a general problem but i'm okay with LDS767, and the SF260. Is this because of graphical memory? Any workaround? New graphics card isn't really an option.Cheers. Richard M.

Sounds about right for the processor and settings to me. Especially if you have airline and/or GA traffic. Have you done the tweaking described in these forums and the Introduction Manual?

You have a very low memory video card with only 320MB, and only 2GB of system RAM, which is the absolute minimum required just to run Windows 7. Throw FSX and a high-end addon like the PMDG 737NGX, and I'm afraid you are heading for these kinds of troubles. The only thing I can recommend short of a system upgrade would be to lower your sliders in FSX.

Would another 2gb of RAM give any noticeable performance increase?

Yes, but your video memory is a problem too - notice our minimum specs are a 512MB card.

Ah, I was suppose I was a bit naive ignoring the min. specs as I always have! Apologies, especially since you've got so much do deal with on here. I had a quick flight this morning and I am so so impressed by the immersion, I never expected it to be this good.. the wingview 'experience' is supreme; the sounds are unreal... JUST like you're actually there! I can get a 460 OC for £100 ish and another 2gb RAM for £20 - not bad but I'm going to University to study Aero Eng in a month so it doesn't make much sense really! I hope a Macbook Pro will be able to run it vaguely smoothly...
