Delta Air Lines' Super Powerful B737-700s

Featured Replies

First of all, sorry for this squishy title and explanation, I'm still looking for an official document or something like that. It appears that Delta Air Lines' B737-700NG, which they use to destinations as far as Brazil from Atlanta, have gotten extra powerful engines to make this kind of operation possible. However, the engines (at least when the loadfactor is very low) have to be de-rated during take-off, otherwise they would just deliver too much thrust. From all that I've heard, this quite an exception compared to other 73G operators, and I wondered whether his would be included in the NGx (as said, still looking for something more concrete...). Many thanks.

Huh? What's the question? Are you asking if you can derate a takeoff in the NGX? Yes.
I believe he is asking if the NGX comes with engine options with thrust ratings as high as Delta's

Yes, exactly. I'll try to provide more data as soon as possible; stay tuned.

Is it possible this is just the 27K bump option? I did a Google search and couldn't find a single thing on this. I found the flights you're probably referring to, from Atlanta to Manaus, but nothing about a higher powered engine.

Perhaps yes, but I have a different engine subtype in mind. I saw a dispatcher (at DL) write that he'd never seen something like the necessity to de-rate an engine for take-off before. Well, it's done most of the time, but in this case it is an obligation, if the loadfactor/weight is too low.

The engines on the NGX -800 are rated at 26,000 lbs of thrust.I haven't flown the -900 yet so no clue what the engine rating is.
