December 29, 200322 yr There's a bunch of liveries in the DL section. Didn't know that it was FS9 compatable. Anyone using it, and what are your thoughts? I'd love to buy a quality A320 product...rgds,billg
December 29, 200322 yr Skip that, if you want an A320 addon, go for PSS. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
December 29, 200322 yr John, does PSS work with FS9? Their site says FS2002 and no mention on the forums that I could see (without spending all night, hehe). And it seems you can't buy and download, you need to wait for a CD...rgds,billg
December 29, 200322 yr Hi Bill,I think they're working on the patch and testing it at the moment. Probably best to check their forum :) Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
December 29, 200322 yr I made the mistake of buying it and trying to use it in FS2002...one time. They published an update for FS9, and I haven't even bothered to download it, so that's my verdict. The PSS stuff doesn't work in FS2004 correctly yet. The A300-400 models from PSS still have bugs and really weren't any improvement in systems or functionality from the A319/320 in FS2002. PSS pretty much has relinquished the spot I had for them at the top of the payware developer market, in my book, during the last year. I also have the SSW A310, still a work in progress but promising. Unfortunately, while the panel is complex I have lots of problems with poor frame rates and stuttering (get about half the FR's of the PMDG 737), especially around airports with weather. It's got the best FMS of any jet add-on, in my opinion. The flight model and vertical profile management still need work. Still hoping this will get better. So the "Airbus Blues" in FS continue...and I spend a lot of time in Boeing cockpits. Hope springs eternal though...regards,
December 29, 200322 yr Chris, that's what I thought. I got spoiled with the PMDG 737, was hoping for something similar with an Airbus. I'll stick with Mike Stone's for now, been flying his stuff for a long time and not in a rush to switch--unless someone comes out with a PMDG Airbus lookalike, hehe.billg
December 29, 200322 yr Bill,Mike Stone's creations are great. If you're looking for more realism in the A320 arena, suggest a combination of a Project Airbus A320 with a panel from Eric Marciano; all free. Project Airbus planes are at http://www.avsim.com/projectairbus/ and Eric's panels at http://emarciano.free.fr/Airbus.htm. For Airbus panel information suggest this great site: http://www.meriweather.com/320/320_main.htmlRegards,Dave Vega dv Win 10 Pro || i7-8700K || 32GB || ASUS Z370-P MB || NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11Gb || 2 960 PRO 1TB, 840 EVO My Files in the AVSIM Library
December 29, 200322 yr I think people basically lost interest when they realized that under no circumstances would it actually run...unless you want FS to look like a webcam updating every few minutes.
December 29, 200322 yr >> unless you want FS to look like a webcam updating every few minutes.Which happens if you don't read the 320PIC manual and use the recommended settings. I have it running at 1600*1200 with acceptable framerate. It's the Airbus addon that comes closest to FBW, that comes closest to Airbus feel on AP. Try to perform an Autoland with 20kt crosswind and compare 320PIC with all others. It's the only one that can deal with it.If you define your own view presets, you can move around in the 3D cockpit as fast as in the 2D cockpit. And then e.g. you find your MCDU in the correct 3D environment and don't get it slammed right into your 2D view. If someone really wants to deal with the new concept, it's gets very immersive soon.Sadly not many have really understood 320PIC (incl. some reviewers).Sure there are some flaws that require workarounds, but what's the alternative ? Airbusses that gets thrown around on AP like a fighter jet or with an FBW, that does next to nothing ?Mike
December 29, 200322 yr >I think people basically lost interest when they realized>that under no circumstances would it actually run...I have A320 PIC on FS9, it she flies very smoothly here (2.4Ghz P4 - Radeon 9700TX). A comfortable 15FPS around big airports. 25FPS locked elsewhere. As of today, and AFAIK, it is the only FS2002/2004 aircraft that comes close to simulating the FBW system. However, this is not a "plug-and-play" add-on. I understand why some people have been disappointed. It takes some configuration efforts. The WILCO forum on AVSIM comes handy for that.--Machdiamonds
