Green information bar - FPS hit

Featured Replies

HI there, Is there any way to completely remove the green information bar from FSX/NGX, I use the unregistered version [no need to spend money on that] FSUIPC with the 'Hide all single messages' checked but the information bar still comes on screen causing a 80% temporary drop in the NGX ( not acceptable ). This happens when I use REX and FSPax. Also with FSPax, I have noticed that the same drop in FPS happens when anything in the status bar changes, i.e turbulence, crew serving food, numbers change etc.....this only happens in the NGX. System run OK at av.25 fps at Add-on airports in London with external lock@40fps (tried other numbers and 40 seems to work best) with all recommended tweaks......just need to lose the green bar and all will be good. That is strange, I don´t have any drop in frames when the green bar shows up.

Uuuumm, I wonder what causes it on my system. Chris Farrell

It's a system by system situation. The same thing can happen with the ASE message bar for some users.

Yes I notice a huge frame drop and stutters with ASE when it activates the bar. I simply turned it off and no issues.

Reinstalling FSX would the last thing to try as it will take a least 5 hours with all my add-ons and Photoscenery etc.Any idea why text would cause such a big fps hit?Chris Farrell

It's worth it, unless you want to fly at -9 FPS.

So, help me to understand. I admit i'm not a support person and cant help much, but are you saying that once the info bar shows up with its initializing instruments message that the frames drop and never go back up??

Five hours can be a lot of time, and although all time may not equal money, it is an investment.. Time lost on that investment through having to do re-installs is overhead that many can barely afford. I think the gentleman who recommended re-install as the last thing to do is correct in his suggestion.. There must be a better way to do it.. I'd recommend opening up a support ticket and letting the good people of PMDG help out as they know more about this plane than any of the rest of us ever will..Pam

The hit only happens when something is displaying information - Rex, weather is loading, PFE frequencies, ngx initial load and fspax. Frames go back after a few seconds but it's still annoying me as I like things to be smooth.Chris Farrell

yeahh, I can understand that. Still there has to be a better solution than a full re-install.. At least I believe there should be..Thanks for the reply.. its appreciated..Pam
