Outline RUnway in HGS

Recommended Posts

AIII mode.
When I hit the mode it says Arm AII Mode. Just confused on how to get it out of ARM?

Here is how I do it: Both NAV radios tuned and course selected on MCP.Enter Runway Elevation and Length in HUGS control panel.Use PRI mode with AIII armed. You wont see it until you are fairly low on the approach. Dan.

Both Navs tuned to the correct ILS frequency. Both courses set appropriately. Is that it? I can't remember, but I've shot several extreme low approaches in this mode by hand and it is the coolest thing I've ever seen Flight Sim do. Maybe you could refer to the manual? Nevermind, Dan knew off the top of his head.

Can someone explain the diff between IMC and PRI modes? If shooting an standard ILS approach where you will not use AIII mode, what is the proper procedure for which mode is used and which is armed? Yes I looked in manual and cannot find it.

Hmm doesn't work for me., I got the ILS and G?S working but no outline. Does the airport need to have a CATIII to get an outline of runway?

I may be wrong but the AIII mode is for CAT 3 Approaches so the runway will need to be CAT 3 yes. I just had a circuit at LHR EGLL in zero vis and it worked beautifully for a manual landing, the runway outline appeared at around 400 ft.Have a look at this, just a quick google search, see point 6 http://www.aatl.net/publications/easyJet-HUGS.htm

The thing is that any runway that has an ILS in FSX is treated as if it is CATIII. If it has an ILS, you can autoland. You are correct about real-world procedures, but they don't completely apply here.
