Squawkbox4 problems on FSX - Weather and Transponder

Featured Replies

Hi allFirst of all, I have posted this in the Squawkbox section of the AVSIM forums, but am still awaiting a reply. I haven't posted in the Squawkbox forums because there are people there waiting for a reply to a post they made for help years ago.I have FSX running with SB4 on my PC (specs in my signature). On a recent flight online with my NGX (I fly with VATSIM), I realised that the weather I could see was not what everyone else was seeing/experiencing and not what the metar for the airport was that I was flying into. It should have been very cloudy and windy, yet I was seeing relatively nice weather with few clouds. The pressure of 29.92 was also much lower than what the VATSIM weather was at. Can someone please tell me what settings I should be using in FSX weather menu, FSUIPC and SB4 to ensure that I see the proper weather when flying online on VATSIM with SB4? If someone could help on this problem, I'd be most grateful as I want to fly in the weather VATSIM is simulating, not the basic "fair" weather all the time.My other problem is that when starting SB4, once connected (it says in the SB4 window that I am connected and shows an IP address), I do not see a radio frequency in the bottom right corner immediately. I have to go to options, fiddle with the settings (change to something else in a tab and then put it back to what it was so I can select "APPLY" then click on "OK". Sometimes even that doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas on this one? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Hi Matthew,I am having the same sort of issues,I put a ticket in last night about it!!The NGX has performed with out any real issues for most of the first week. But on Saturday past I started having difficulty connecting to SB,had the IP on the bottomleft of the SB screen but No transmitting Frequency on the bottom right. Also at the same time I have lost the abillity to change frequency on my Goflight radio panels, although the radios do change inside the NGX when using it's tuning dials. The other strange thing that is happening now,is if I don't run FSX as administrator Iam unable to select the NGX without FSX crashing to desktop. BTW I am running SB networked on a second computer. Very strange?

First of all - please confirm that you ARE running FSX and SB as an administrator. Otherwise you can spend a lot of time looking for solutions that wont help anyway. Matthew what kind of weather engine are you using? If default FSX, then you can forget about realistic weather that will correspond with the VATSIM metars. At least I never made my FSX to comply. Try using ASE or REX for that.If you already have one, check that its configured to use VATSIM weather and you have an exception in Windows firewall. Do you both have these problems with NGX only?

I always run anything to do with MSFS as Administrator. I use the default FS9 or FSX weather - haven't gotten around to buying a weather addon. I always start a flight with "clear" weather and then load the flight. Once in the cockpit, I start SB4 and update its weather. I originally THOUGHT that SB4 would update the weather that I see, yet my weather doesn't correspond with the metar. So should I be selecting "real world weather updated every 15 mins" in the FS weather menu before starting a flight?
