January 4, 200422 yr Author Hi Chris,When FS crashes, are there any error messages being displayed? Some rudamentary questions:-Have you run "spy ware" scanners (spy bot, AdAware)-virus scan-What's running in the background when FS is loaded-What version of DirectX are you running-Are any of your drivers for your NOT from the original manufactuer? (i.e. Sapphire drivers version of ATI's 3.10's etc...).-Are any of your "essential" drivers (sound, video) non-WHQL-Appart from games, what applications are installed and "active" in your system tray or when you hit ctrl-alt-del.-Have you updated your chipset drivers?I would unplug your joysticks and printer, remove all non-essential add-on cards leaving ONLY your video card and fire FS and test. Add cards back one at a time and see if the problem can be recreated. If not, we KNOW it's not an add-on card/driver issue. If the problem appears with JUST the video card adapter installed, that "could" the a place to focus on.Another thing you can try which may be a little extreme but may be worth a try is to go to www.blackviper.com and on the left hand side click on the "Windows XP Services" link and edit your services using the "Super Tweak" section. This basically loads your system with VERY minimal services started. I'm currently using the Internet Gateway set-up and my system is rock solid.Keep in touch and let me know how things go!Mikehttp://www.members.shaw.ca/madamo/boeingsig.jpg
January 4, 200422 yr Hey Mike,Thanks for the info.. I'm gonna be busy at work the next few days then I get my 2 weeks vacation so I'll try this before I head out of Winterpeg.I can tell you though I am running a fresh install, no spyware, no virus scanner, FS is the only thing running, DX 9.0b I am running a Hercules Fortissimo III soundcard. All chip drivers are current. I'm running a pretty full PFC setup, but its crashed without that active before.I'll try the blackviper link tomorrow. Time for some ZzzzzzzsChris
