August 18, 201114 yr yesterday I replaced my samsung monitor by Asus 3D Monitor (Nvidia 3D Vision Included) and after a couple of minutes configuration, everything get ready to start the FSX. My default flight is Cessna 172 @ EHAM. the first 3D experince was owesome but as soon as I changed the aircraft to 737 NGX, I really impressed. its impossible to compare NGX with other add ons! anyway I start the engines and taxing to the active runway and ... when I turn to final, I saw something wrong, the runway lights!!! it seems the ground lighting in FSX is not designed for 3D. I google it and find "effects are not working in 3D", is it true? is there any fix for it? Teefan Anderson
August 18, 201114 yr Commercial Member Nothing about FS is designed for "3D". The only reason it works with the model is because it uses the geometry to figure out where it should be. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the lights were simply 2D sprites scaled to fit the viewing distance - FSX has a lot of old tech in it (and this is a point some people deliberately miss, instead wishing to believe FSX is the best-written program ever created). Best regards,Robin.
August 18, 201114 yr Hi Teefan, How about the experience in approching? You said about lights, but the scenary.......how about you feeling? Tell us..... August 18, 201114 yr Author @ Robin Thx@ Silvio, at day time, everything are great and makes the flight really live, except the approach guidance and runway threshold lights. infact the lights will hurt my eyes. totally its something different from what I experience till now. in the cockpit I really want to tuch the knobs and controllers. August 18, 201114 yr I'm at a total loss. I fail to see how you get 3D with a 2D application??? August 18, 201114 yr Author @ Howard, check the linkhttp://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_3D_VisionKit_us.html unfortunately, its useless for FSX till some one fix the lighting issue. Teefan

August 18, 201114 yr I have a new DELL XPS L702X laptop (Intel i7-2820QM 8GB RAM Win 7 64) with NVidia 3D, and the 737 NGX looks awesome in 3D - especially the interior cockpit lighting. When I purchased the laptop, I didn't even anticipate 3D being able to work with FSX, but it was a pleasant surprise when it did. The only issue is the "well-documented" runway lighting placement problem in FSX. Michael DelFranco http://downloads.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/Boeing777_Banner_Pilot.jpg
August 19, 201114 yr @ Howard, check the linkhttp://www.nvidia.co...sionKit_us.html unfortunately, its useless for FSX till some one fix the lighting issue. Teefan I heard that you can get 3D lighting to work when you use the iz3d driver. <---------------> Mike Murawski
August 19, 201114 yr Author I heard too, but didnt test it yet. last night I tried TriDef 3D driver and it resolved the lighting issue, but reduced the FPS significantly (Almost Half). Also TriDef 3D makes other graphical problems. today I`ll check the iz3d driver to find if it works or not. the question is: if a small companies like ... could make a driver to resolve the issue, why nvidia could not!!!!! September 8, 201114 yr So if Iuse my 3D ,monitor and have it for a 2D use... Will the performance be worse? Artur Scholl
