Good lightweight headset for simming?

Featured Replies

Not sure which hardware forum this should be in, but I ended up here since it is "other" :) I am looking for a new headset. The requirements are:- Lightweight- Open- Preferably felt and not leather/plastic on the earphones. - It should be possible to mount the Trackir Trackclip Pro on them. I currently use the Logitech G35 headset, but they are too heavy for me, and I do not like the closed type. I was thinking about the "Sennheiser PC163D Headset", but saw a review on youtube that said that they pressed on the ears, and this was a problem if you wear glasses. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Helge

Are you looking for good sound. I think it is generally bigger=better sound but you could try these. I don't know about track ir compatibility:http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=116_1173&products_id=16093Heard good things about them and they look lighter than the G35.

I recently purchased the Creative Fatal1ty Pro MKII. It seems to be the best of both worlds. It's relatively light weight and very comfortable (this is very dependent on head size as any headset is), plus circumaural for better sound and ambient noise "cancellation". I can fit my TrackIR clip on no problem, and the sound is excellent. The mic is good, not perfect, but good. I bought this product from Newegg on sale ($40) and with free shipping. I would never give $70 for any headset. The Corsair headset mentioned above will obviously not fit the TrackIR clip, and it's much too overrated.

Bought these for the kids birthday, they are not USB and I cannot comment on TR but comfortable they are. http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/xbox-gaming-headsets/ear-force-dx11.aspx Mine are Sennheiser PC330 and squish my ears.

One of the best I ever owned:http://www.sennheiser.de/sennheiser/home_de.nsf/root/private_headsets-pc-166-usb It's great build quality, excellent sound quality, everyone understands me great, so it must have a good mic, and it's really lightweight. I owned about 5 headsets until now, this one is a huge keeper.
