August 23, 201114 yr Hey all, I've having problems getting FSX AA to work. Basically, my card is a GTX 460 1gb and in the NVidia control panel I try setting it to 8xAA, or 16xAA enhance application settngs, and it's not doing anything. It's quite annoying as the games inbuilt AA is not very good. Does anybody know what causes this? Thanks
August 23, 201114 yr Are you setting Inspector as per Nick Needham's recommendations? http://forum.avsim.net/topic/333334-nvidia-inspector-settings/ i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
August 23, 201114 yr Have you set it to OVERRIDE application settings instead of enhance? August 23, 201114 yr Yup, did that too! Ahh well, I guess it gives me some FPS and the ingame one isnt too bad...
August 23, 201114 yr Is your FPS set to unlimited or limited? I had anti-aliasing issues with FPS at unlimited (they were more pronounced on aircraft wing shadows, runways, etc.). With FSX running, I went to display settings and moved the limiter to 35 and the anti-aliasing was almost gone. At least greatly reduced. I do not use the Inspector but the display driver control panel. I tried the Inspector using the settings recommended by Ryan (I think that's his name) over in the PMDG forum and it didn't work any better than the Nvidia display control panel. Anti-aliasing is a much discussed topic though since FS2K2 and maybe even earlier. If there was a "magic bullet" for this issue, it would probably be shown as a sticky on every forum. Best regards,Jim
August 23, 201114 yr You need to delete the current FSX profile in nvidia insp, and create a new one, when creating a new profile, you need to browse to the FSX.exe and name the new profile. And then configure using NickN's settings if you prefer. That should fix your problem.
August 24, 201114 yr With Nvidia drivers 280.26, I had to check the AA box in FSX to get AA. I have AA Behavior Flags set to None and AA Mode set to Override in Inspector. With this setup, FSX properly reflects all the AA changes made in Inspector. With previous Nvidia drivers I did not check the AA box in FSX. Ben
August 24, 201114 yr Hi Ben,If you have to tick the AA box in fsx, means it is not set up correctly. Your profile in NV Isp is not doing what you set it to do. You need to do what I posted above. So AA mode set to overide is not. You might as well set to application decide, because that is what fsx is doing. With a corrupted profile, changing any settings in NV isp is futile.
August 24, 201114 yr I can try what you have suggested, however, as I said in my post, any changes I make in Inspector are indeed reflected in FSX the way I have it set up now. Anyway, I'll try your suggestion and see what happens. Ben
August 24, 201114 yr @Turboblower I created a new profile and attached it to fsx.exe and now I can run with AA unchecked in FSX. You are correct that the behavior is the same as before I installed the 280.26 drivers. What I needed to do was to detach the profile and reattach it to fsx.exe to regain the former behavior.Ben
