ISDN Connection

Featured Replies

Right now I am stuck with a 26.4kbps dialup connection and I was wondering id anyone had ISDN. Cable and DSL are not availible in my area, but ISDN just came here. How are the download speeds? Just wondering. Thanks!

Kevin,I assume that you live in the UK ? I have an ISDN connection, and the digital line is very reliable (I haven't had a SINGLE disconnection whilst downloading). The download speed is almost always a constant 7K per second (56kbps), which is CONSIDERABLY faster than a V90 modem. This translates to around 1Mb every 2.5 minutes.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Hi Kevin,I agree with what Chris said, an ISDN connection will be a definite inmprovement on your current dial-up. However, make sure you don't sign up for a pricey long-term contract (i.e. one year or more), as there's a strong likelihood that cable or DSL will come to your area sooner rather than later, in which case you'll want to have the option of just giving a month's notice to your ISDN provider and move on to better things.Cheers,Gosta.

Thanks guys. I actually live in a suburb of Seattle. I'm a little off the beaten path, so DSL & Cable aren't planned to be here any time soon.
