January 6, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi all,Open the TERRAIN.CFG file in the FS9 folder.Replace all instances of "MaskClassMap=1" with "MaskClassMap=0".Save the file and restart FS.-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x ________________ Justin - Toposim http://www.toposim.net
January 6, 200422 yr Author Hi Justin.I still get crashes with the LFMR_2.flt I had attached to an earlier post... I'll attach it again for you.If I use Joachim's CTD solution from his website, it cures this CTD.Joachim's fix actually changes the airport backgounds in terrain.cfg to point to textures he made and uses MaskClassMap=1, just like the roads and streams and shorelines.I'll also attach a zipped FLT for ENAN. The change you ( and tdragger ) have suggested works for ENAN... but so does Joachim's original fix. Seeing as Joachim's fix does the job for both, that would sem better... but the question is: why does either work at all? Here's a possible clue:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/56537.jpgLWMViewer shows ENAN's AirportBackground with roads cutting through it... so there would be 2 different types of masking going on in different layers. And maybe that is the CTD when seasonal snow is added to the mix.Dick
January 7, 200422 yr Author Hi Justin.A follow-up.I removed all VTPlines from the sim ( BR*.bgl, HL*.bgl, RD*.bgl, RR*.bgl, ST*.bgl ). This also stops the CTDs in the sim with the previous 2 zipped files. This leads me to believe I'm close in assuming it is an interaction between VTP lines, the AirportBackgrounds, and seasonal changes that involve the blending of snow.Dick
January 7, 200422 yr Hey Dick, Where can I find Joachim's fix? I'm having horrible CTD's and will try anything...MickeyKLAS
January 7, 200422 yr Author Hi Mickey.http://jobia.bei.t-online.de/crashdes.htmIt's the crashto.zip file.Others have been able to reduce or eliminate these types of CTDs by turning the Terrain Texture size to Medium ( in the display settings ). I don't reccomend that as it shuts off your highest Mip on your textures and blurs the scenery.Dick

January 8, 200422 yr I can't seem to find the instructions for this patch in English. Does someone know which cfg file I should use? I pretty much assume to copy my textures folder to a back-up, then replace the textures with this fix, but then I can't figure out which cfg file to use. It's been a long time since high school German studies...Thanks,MickeyKLAS
January 8, 200422 yr Holger's original post related this fix and gave some instructions in english. They are as follows:"1. Download crashto.zip at http://jobia.bei.t-online.de/crashdes.htm and unzip into temporary folder, with "Use folder names" enabled.2. make a backup copy of your FS9terrain.cfg file3. copy the .bmp files from the PatchTexture folder into your FS9Texture folder4. copy one of the two replacement terrain.cfg files into your root FS9 folder. The version in the "terrain_cfg mit ..." folder retains the default blending of landclass textures along the utility lines, the version in "terrain_cfg ohne ..." replaces the blending with simple textures. Both versions fix the seasonal CTD crashes, the additional changes to the utility corridors are just a pet peeve of Jobia and have no influence on the crashes (in Europe, most utility corridors don't have clearings cut, unless they run through forested areas). The patch is easily reversible by deleting the new terrain.cfg and replacing it with the original. You don't have to delete the .bmp files that came with this patch because they get called only by the altered terrain.cfg". Hope it helps,Gabriel.
January 9, 200422 yr Author Hi all.tdragger has found a convincing fix that doesn't rely on extra textures, and would have some advantages in that regard:"...find the TERRAIN.CFG file in the FS9 folder, open it in Notepad and replace BOTH MaskClassMap=1 AND MaskClassMap=3 to MaskClassMap=0. Save the file and re-start FS."This works on the default terrain.cfg file, and seems to kill off the CTDs just fine. To repeat:Replace all the MaskClassMap=1 and MaskClassMap=3 instances with MaskClassMap=0 in the default terrain.cfgDick
