HUD controls

I am fascinated by the HGS but, whilst there is a mention of setting up for an autoland in the tutorial, I can find very little advice within the other documentation addressing the other functions. I know I can play around with it and try to figure out, but it would be helpful to have some better feedback if possible please? Martin Madden

The control panel allows you to enter RWY length and elevation. That's the biggest function I I use it for. You can access the Primary, VMC, IMC, and AIII modes and put AIII on arm while making an approach to extreme minimums. Eventually someone will chime in with much more info, but there's my input for now! I rarely use the control panel for the HGS.

Thanks Zach- But had figured this from the tutorial. It appears there are various combinations and I think it would be helpful if some explanation could be provided? As an aside I have just completed a perfect flight from Birmingham EGBB ( UK2000) to Paris Orly LFPO ( Aerosoft Mega scenery) in real weather provided by active Sky with X graphics with the approach and landing in a beautiful sunset. The panel lighting was set perfectly. Awesome doesn't come near ! Of greater significance is I do not have a top system. This software is incredible! Martin Madden

I figured I was a little too broad to satisfy your questions. I've actually been looking for a thorough explanation of the HGS myself, regardless of my ability to use it effectively. It's true, this thing has made me say "wow" a few times!

as a side note, right now i dont see the purpose of entering runway length, because the HUD pmdg simulated doesnt seem to have the runway length remaining option.

I think that's the one I posted a link to, it's pretty old and I don't know if you can DL it.Someone else posted this onehttp://jlaroche.com/cqfa/280-BVN/Documents_BVN/B737_9701-1071%20Rev%20C.pdf2006 version of model no. 4000.Dan.

Hello friends, I think the HGS model above is the courrent one, not sure since the manuals and tut are not clear on what HGS model is modeled on our SUPERB B737 NGX. I was giving a try to the manual last night and I found it pretty, if not equal, close to the one we have on board. Please check it out here: http://jlaroche.com/cqfa/280-BVN/...BVN/B737_9701-1071%20Rev%20C.pdf A long time ago we had installed on our MD-82 fleet one of the first HGS already installed on any aircraft but this one is rather different from that one. Hope it helps. Peace.gifArt Washton
