The current edition of PC Pilot (18 Dec ) has an interview between editor Derek Davis and Dovetail. My interpretation on Dovetail's answers is at best vague insofar as support for existing FSX owners and existing addons. They even suggested you might need two computers if my understanding is correct. I am very unimpressed so far. Oh well back to looking at longer term with either x plane or P3D although version 2 of the latter will seemingly stretch some systems too far at the moment. Martin Madden

Decided to install anyway and as soon as I started the installation I saw that it was 2.2 so question now answered. Martin

Have just downloaded from completed orders as directed but before installing I checked version details and saw it said Version 2.0.0.44. Is this 2.2 please? Martin Madden

Airbus are anticipating new releases over the next few months including a complete update of the 320/321. Presumably FS Crew will need to be rewritten to reflect this and I'm wondering do we have to buy a completely new product? Martin Madden

I am looking to generate interest in forming a new group. North South and South West seem well catered for but nothing in the middle. Just need a few to get us started then we can sort venues etc. Martin Madden

Just to complete the info I have spoken to Dell and they have confirmed that Optimus Technology is in operation. Basically the nVidia card only kicks in on demand. The Intel Graphics 3000 on board has 1.6 GB which with the nVidia 1GB gives quite a performance. Given that the laptop was bought for routine plus a bit of video I am very impressed. in case anybody is interested the model is Inspiron 17R.Martin

Thanks GuysI am consulting Dell but I have found in the booklet reference to the nVidia card which is a GeForce GT525M shown as " discrete" suggesting that it is hiding behind the Intel HD Graphics which is what is appearing in FSX settings. This would in some way appear to be of the nature of what Bob has said.Martin

Just bought a new laptop and realised it would probably run FSX which I already run on a performance desk top. Only problem seems to be that within FSX it only seems to recognise the onboard grapics and ignores the card. Device manager shows both and that driver for Nvidia is ok.Any ideas anyone?Martin Madden

Hi MarcelloI have and am very pleased with the BMI Baby repaints. I see that the "oppostion" have produced a British Airways repaint based upon the 600 model which is as near as possible to the ones they actually still use which is the 400.It would be great if you could add this to your achievements please?Keep up the good work and thanksMartin Madden

Since the release of the repaint kit there are many good liveries on Avsim but as most predate SP1 does that mean we should not use them? So far I have only used SP1 updated liveries from PMDG's own downloads. Seems such a waste of effort if we can't use them?Martin Madden

All seems to have gone smoothly and now ready to install liveries. Is it ok to use previously downloaded liveries or would it be better to download fresh ie. has there been any change with the liveries which previous downloads would result in corruption. Don't suppose so put better to be safe etc.Martin Madden

Ok here is the outcome of take off abort at 120 kts.Firstly brakes showed zero temps as before so I turned around and did it again. Seemed to be no different but I then had the idea of changing the failure settings. Whilst I am still learning I have failure settings off. I turned on the use failures and immediately got a reading.I turned them off again but this did not stop the brake temps working.I have carried out another session same test but not changing the failure settings to on and lo and behold I have high brake temps. Make of this what you will.I'm probably going to wish I hadn't done it now! LOL Martin Madden

Seeing a number of problems experienced by others regarding hot brakes I should perhaps leave this one alone. However curiosity always wins. The "problem" is that my brake readings in the CDU are always zero even after heavy braking. The brakes, including autobrakes work as they should. I have looked through the various manuals and can't help feeling that something is amiss. Any ideas please? Martin Madden

Thanks Zach- But had figured this from the tutorial. It appears there are various combinations and I think it would be helpful if some explanation could be provided? As an aside I have just completed a perfect flight from Birmingham EGBB ( UK2000) to Paris Orly LFPO ( Aerosoft Mega scenery) in real weather provided by active Sky with X graphics with the approach and landing in a beautiful sunset. The panel lighting was set perfectly. Awesome doesn't come near ! Of greater significance is I do not have a top system. This software is incredible! Martin Madden

I am fascinated by the HGS but, whilst there is a mention of setting up for an autoland in the tutorial, I can find very little advice within the other documentation addressing the other functions. I know I can play around with it and try to figure out, but it would be helpful to have some better feedback if possible please? Martin Madden

Thanks but I know how to remove using the ADD/Remove option but that is not inline with the " read me" instructions and is why I didn't do it that way . If the instruction says do it another way it is usually for reason. Martin Madden
