January 7, 200422 yr Hi i,m impressed with the Freeware Maule,my congratulations for the authors. Best aircraft that some payware. It,s really beautifull, complete manuals and versions of the plane.I think this people makes the wolrd of FS follows ahead .But i want to know how really its the tendency to turn at the left side,I know the par effect and etc etc . But it
January 7, 200422 yr Hi Mordrag !With many of these powerful GA planes there is a noticeable torque effect. Once you're aware of it you can counter it with suitable rudder action and, with a little practice, stay on the runway until lift-off !Personally I love the Maule in its various incarnations, and find it great fun to fly.Alastair
January 7, 200422 yr Besides checking for torque effects try to look at the payload page.If there's only a 200lbs pilot put also a copilot. It'll fly straight. ;)
January 18, 200422 yr Yes -- adding a copilot will stop the left leaning tendency -- I also reduced the pilot and copilot to 180 lbs each -- I know that people in Western countries are becoming obese -- but!!! :)There also is an update to this a/c which includes a rudder trim gauge -- I gues they decided to include it for a reason! Trouble is that I can't get this gauge to show up in the 2d Panel, it only shows in the VC.Barry
January 18, 200422 yr The real aircaft has trim, but only *right* trim. The big engine and prop do cause pronounced turning tendencies during the takeoff roll (especially in the tailwheel version) but I never really noticed it in flight (I owned a 235hp version for several years) and I flew by myself quite a bit. It could be that they may want to tweak their flight model to make this more subtle.
January 18, 200422 yr I have now found the rudder trim gauge -- I was looking for it in the wrong place while it was staring me in the face all along. It is only one gauge -- for right trim. Now that you tell us that the real a/c only has 1 gauge , I am further amazed at the accuracy of this a/c and panel. If you balance the a/c by using a copilot , the trim gauge is not necccesary -- but you do need it if you fly alone. This is a great a/c -- especially for a freeware one.Barry
January 18, 200422 yr The Moony Bravo also has a rudder trim display and indicates that quite a bit of right trim be used on takeoff.David
