Question about Terrain mode

Recommended Posts

I have never had the pleasure of having a terrain mode option on any aircraft I have flown in RL so this is an exciting new feature, but I am in the dark. Seems to be very little explanation about the workings of the display in the manuals. I understand the graphic coding but what about the two numbers on the left below the word "terrain"? What do they stand for? Are they distance from terrain? terrain elevation? ...?

terrain elevation. They show the lowest point and highest point for a given color. Sort of like clouds have tops and bases, these numbers show you at what elevation the that terrain color begins and ends. Mitch Bowman
